I foster and have had from 4 to 13 cats in the Casa at any given time. I've found the Dr. Elsey's silica litter products virtually eliminate odor in the house. All of our critters have adapted to them seamlessly, too.
I tried Dr. Elsey's Senior when one of my geriatric cats was having urinary tract issues. I was sold from the first bag. Yes, it's more expensive, but it lasts much longer than scoopable litters. Bottom line, the easy maintenance and odor control make it a bargain as far as I'm concerned. I've also been satisfied with the "Respiratory" and "Long Hair" products, but keep coming back to the "Senior."
You scoop the solids and mix the litter to distribute the pockets that have absorbed the urine. It will change color as it is used, but as long as the bottom of your litter box is relatively dry, you can keep on using it. I have 7 large pans in the house, and 5-6 bags will fill them. At a 7-8 cat population, I change them approximately once a month. The "Senior" is fine, like sand, so a small mat in front of the litter boxs solved the tracking problem.
This litter is a tad more expensive through Mr. Chewy, but my local stores often don't have the number of bags I need, and not have to schlep to the store and haul the bags is priceless!!
I could go on, but the best recommendation comes from visitors. Folks seem compelled to say things like, "I'd never have known you have cats in the house if I hadn't seen them." When I ask why, they say, "You have so many, and there's no smell."

I bought this litter because of its advertised benefit of helping prevent urinary tract and kidney infections. My cat is not a senior, but heâs had at least one kidney infection. Such infections can lead to chronic renal failure, a devistating disease. Dr. Elsey's is advertised as being scoopable, though I wouldnât say itâs a clumping litter as the balls crumble easily. My cat seems to like it and had no trouble switching over from his old recycled paper type litter despite the dramatic difference in texture. The product does have a couple of drawbacks. The batch I got was rather dusty, though they are now advertising that it is 99% dust free so I may have gotten an older batch. It also tracks very easily and crunches under your feet. Daily sweeping will be required to deal with this. All in all these two things are minor if Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat Senior Litter does what it says it does and helps keep my cat from getting another kidney infection.

I have 3 cats, one of which I have had litter box problems with her all her life....she always acted like her litter hurt her paws. Then she wouldn't use a litter box if it had been used and not totally cleaned for her. So, I looked up "kitty litter for tender paws" on the Internet and Dr. Elseys Precious Cat came up. I ordered it, changed her litter and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. She actually liked using her litter box...from the first day we have had no more problems.

This product is awesome. I have an almost 19 year old cat with arthritist and this is the only litter I will use and she will use. Also it helps me look for renal issues and it never smells bad ever! Can't say enough good things about it!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by B3lla FLUTD nightmare. Picky cats
My siamese had been diagnosed with FLUTD. And after a very scary night in the hospital my stress life dramatically increased. The vet put him on a special diet and i set out to find every option possible to prevent my baby from going through a repeat process. I am so impressed by this litter. Its not harmful to their lungs yet its so small the texture doesn't bother their feet. I love crystal litter but my cats hate it. Also this litter prevents bacteria spread which is a big deal not to mention i dont have to worry about the "clay" from previous litters getting stuck in my cats urethra. U only need to use a thin layer and it lasts forever. I use a grate litter box and beginning and end of the day i sift the litter. (I keep the sifting pan underneath). The litter clings to the urine and i can easily use the scooper to clump it all in one spot n dump it out. It also dries up feces quite fast. I have three cats n id say each bag can last a month maybe three weeks. I used to buy the cheap clumping litter- and im saving more money this way. My cats love it. It doesn't track on their paws n into my bed. And i am happy protecting my kitty

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Allison2271 No more UTI's -- coincidence?
My elderly cat (almost 18 years old) was getting a urinary tract infection every few months. She has arthritis and kidney disease. I started using this cat litter almost a year ago. Since having this cat litter, she has not had a single UTI. I mentioned it to the vet, who said "I don't see how the type of litter would have anything to do with it." Could it be a coincidence? I think not.
Regarding the odor, I have to change the litter every 2 weeks. The package one bag will last one cat two months. Well, I can split one bag between two litter boxes (I have two cats). So that should last one month. But 2-3 weeks is the longest before it smells really bad. Granted, with kidney disease, cats have a much larger volume of urine. I think this is the reason the litter doesn't last as long as the bag says.
This litter tracks a LOT. I have a roomba robot vacuum that goes around every day in my small apartment, so that is helpful, because before the roomba vacuum, I would be walking on grit. There is a lot of "dust" too. The wall behind the litter box gets a coating of fine powder after a while that I have wipe down with a sponge. The tracking and fine powder/dust everywhere is the only thing I don't like about this litter. But it is worth it to prevent my poor cat from getting more UTI's.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by loris This litter is just AMAZING!!!
We have 2 fifteen year old cats and one has started to have problems with the clumping litter. I was searching online for a different type of litter when I found Dr. Elsey's Precious Sr Litter. I saw a couple of negative comments but the positive comments were enough for me to decide to order some. The litter is extremely dusty when you pour it in the litter box but the dust is the only negative. After Dr. Elsey's Sr Litter is in litter box there will never be any more dust. Dr. Elsey's Sr Litter really does absorb the urine (and the odor!!!) I don't let the feces stay in the box i happen to know that it's in there but I can see that this litter will take care of this odor as well. If you have a senior cat(s), you will be so happy with this litter!!

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Sookie75 Dr. Elsey's and Feling Pine Original Cat Litter
one positive comment about the litters: DUST FREE!
The Service is ALWAYS WONDERFUL!
Otherwise, it is hard to recommend products that my kitty doesn't like. And she didn't like either of these litters. Dr. Elsey's was too fine grained to be scoopable. The pine nuggets were scratched right out of the box. She wouldnt cover her feces and some were outside the box. I'm sorry. I will have to return the 2nd bag of pine original.
I ordered a new litter today that is closer to her original one and is supposedly relative dust-free.
I'll keep you posted. Meanwhile, Keep up the excellent work and service. I really appreciate you.
