We have six cats, five of which manage their own weight, and one, Brutus, who was a big fatty and needed a diet, badly. Very difficult to do with five other cats.
We tried food restriction and automatic feeders, and although he did lose a little weight, he was miserable and was making every cat in the house miserable too. He became food aggressive and would chase the other cats out of the kitchen at meal time. So we gave up.
Several months passed and he started getting these white mealy scabs on his back and his hair began to fall out in chunks. We took him to the vet and they gave us a shampoo to try, not really knowing what the issue was. Needless to say, Brutus became miserable once again, and we gave up on the baths.
A friend mentioned this brand of grain free cat food and we figured we had tried everything else.
After a few weeks, not only did Brutus' hair start to grow back but we found out at the following vet visit that he had lost 4 lbs.
Our other cat, Truman, also had very coarse hair that softened dramatically and all of the cats seem to enjoy it.

I've been buying this food for over a year. My cats love it. My vet told me not to feed them dry food, but they would give me dagger stares or worse if I quit!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rona 7 cats won't eat this food
The ingredients aren't bad in this food although I'm not a fan out pea protein (high in sugar) and avoid any food with potato however, none of my cats like this food. Usually when I feed the cats, there are no morsels left in the bowl but this food does not seem to interest any of my cats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ACWN Great for more than just cats!
I made a HUGE order of Orijen, Wellness CORE Kitten, Blue Buffalo Wilderness Kitten and Earthborn Holistic Primitive because not only do I have a young adult cat, I have 6 ferrets that were previously on a raw diet that I couldn't afford any more.
Ferrets and cats alike do best when introduced to more than one food as they can, and often will, imprint on their food as they age. If they imprint, they typically wont take to new foods and can starve themselves until the old food is given back. Having more than one food available prevents this, giving you a back up incase there is a recall or one brand is no longer produced, or a formula is changed for the worse.
Not only does my cat enjoy the blend of different foods, but so do my ferrets. Being that they're all high quality kibbles, my crew is adjusting pretty quickly with very little tummy trouble. Plus it makes for less health troubles down the line for my fur babies!
My cat is healthy and active with a coat so glossy and soft it always boggles my vet's mind!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Conny Recommend....yes and no
I am sure the food is healthy and maybe most cats out there love it both my 2 Ragdolls, 12 and 17 lb, are not able to eat it.
The kibble is super tiny, to small, not chewable. My boys do not know how to eat it. We do like kibble which is bigger so it also will clean their teeth when they eat it.
I did read in different reviews that the kibble is small but I did not think something that small as a cat kibble exist.
It is not much bigger then a pinhead.
I called Earthborn in Evansville to double check on the size or find out about bigger size kibble in a different taste and though the lady was very nice, she could not give me information on the kibble size because they don't know how big the kibble is in cat food, because the cat food is NOT manufactured at the Earthborn plant but at a different company in Illinois. Nobody there answers the phone, just voicemail.
So, maybe good for little kittens or small cats but definitely not for big ones. Sorry!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mick Good For the Price
I have tried several foods with different results. we have 3 full grown cats all above 7 lbs each up to 13 lbs. we had been giving them Fancy Feast dry and wet food. At least once a week one would throw up. It appeared to be the result of the kind of food we used. I switched them over to the Acana dry. They eat this very well and would not touch the Fancy Feast after eating this. For a less expensive price I tried the Earthborn. They eat it but not as well but they do ok with it. The ingredients is not near as good as the Acana but the Earthborn is about 15 dollars less per bag. We go through a bag about every 3 months. Champion is known as a quality company with excellent ingredients. Earthborn has not had any recalls either. I would recommend the Earthborn if you are looking for a less expensive alternative. We all feed them Wellness Core wet food. They would not eat the wet food in the Earthborn. The dry food is much more expensive in the Wellness Core. My summary is try the Earthborn. It is a good food. If you want better ingredients go with the Acana. Look at the first 5 ingredients and compare. I am planning on going back to the Acana as long as I can afford it. If needed the Earthborn would be my second choice. Then the Wellness Core.

by Phaewryn Teeny tiny kibbles feed through the automatic feeder GREAT!
My cats live half the week at home alone, and I depend on an automatic feeder to keep them fed while I am away, and this is absolutely THE BEST food for that machine, as it is a small perfectly round kibble that never clogs in the feeder. Additionally, my cats who were overweight have lost a few pounds because it has less carbs than their previous food, and they love the taste of this food. I really like the premium ingredients, and you cannot beat the price per quality, I did all the math, this is by far the best food you can buy at this price point. Earthborn has never had a recall, so I feel safe feeding it, and the quality is always consistent from bag to bag, it never varies. The small kibbles don't need to be chewed, so my elderly cat with bad teeth has no trouble eating it (although it does get scattered around the bowl quite a bit, so use I put the feeder on a litter mat to keep the mess contained). GREAT FOOD. The company participates in Trees for UPCs, just save your UPC code off every bag, and then mail them in after a year, they plant trees! Neat! I feel really good supporting this company, and I trust them to provide my cats with safe and balanced nutrition which I can be sure meets all the safety and quality guidelines I require. This food always gets high reviews on all the cat food critique websites as well... and it's the cheapest of all those that do score well. I've included a photo of the kibble shown with an american quarter in the bowl to show the kibble size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Klopeck Amazing health benefits
I have 2 Bengals. One in kidney failure and another with chronic UTI's. They were both on veterinary diets, but it was difficult to feed them separately (the ingredients of one cat's food wasn't okay for the other to eat).
I thought perhaps a food meant for primitive cats would be more suitable, and then they could both be on the same diet. After about 6 months we took our cat in for lab work to check on the progression of his kidney failure, and his labs came back completely normal. The vet had never seen anything like it. He's healthier, happier and will probably outlive us all :)
