by Greeneyesnfurry Worked great for a very sick kitten.
Our Vet had me try this for a four week 1/2 lb. kitten that was failing to thrive. The Vet gave her 3 days to live. FKS she called it. She said if she could just absorb some of the protein this it would help her.
I would take some add a lil water and get her to lap a lil.
I made it a little thick and pasty. I did this at 1st every 2 hrs. She took a lil more each time. Eventually I made a lil in a tiny bowl and she would lap it up. I went back to vet and got more and she was amazed Keira was still hanging in there. It was a long process at 1st but she made it . It was a long shot but I was willing to try and this was food was great. After 2 months the Vet had me swap her to regular Hills kitten food and she did great. The pic was Keira and her sister after a month on the A/D.

We have a senior citizen who didn't seem at all like a senior until she became very ill lately with kidney disease, an upper respiratory infection and, we subsequently found out, liver cancer.
She has always been my most finicky (she currently weighs 5 pounds), but had stopped eating all food, even fresh chicken, etc.. When the docs found liver cancer, they told us to expect her to last only a few days. They suggested a/d because it is the highest in calories and she could get a lot of nutrition in a small serving.
The first few days, she wouldn't try it. After a couple of days, she ate 1/4 teaspoon. Now, she's eating 1/2 can a day and supplementing it with crunchy food. She is back from the brink of death. She was chasing a golf ball around the house tonight; she hadn't played in two months! This food definitely kept her sustained while she began her return to health. She also takes subcutaneous fluids and used Little Noses Saline nasal drops for her nasal congestion. No one expected her to be as well as she is today; we definitely believe that her a/d helped save her.

Prescription diet really helped a lot when my dog was not feeling well, and could barely eat; it is a syringe-friendly food, very soft and easy to consume for the pet.

by Maggiemae1960 Saved our diabetic dog
Our 9 year old Lab developed diabetes and lost 20 lbs. as well as his appetite. With the help of our Vet, we got him started on insulin, but his appetite still lagged. He has always eaten dry kibble. The only way he would eat is with the Hill's Critical Care canned food on top. Now he is gaining weight, managing the diabetes and his appetite and personality are back.
I really like the fact that this can be used for dogs or cats since we have finicky cat as well.

Last month our 15 year old tuxedo cat Chancey couldn't eat. Vet couldn't find anything wrong except for a large ulcer under his tongue. So we are force feeding him 4 times a day with Hill's Prescription Diet a/d and Cat-Cal and he is doing great! This food has allowed Chancey to gain weight and grow stronger and give us hope that he will make a full recovery one day. Hill's Prescription Diet a/d was made for situations like Chancey's and we are so glad to have it available to us to save a sweet boy.

I have a 20yr old 4lb cat with kidney issues and the associated problems that go with with it. I mix the a/d with a little water, warm it up, add in NaturVet Digestive Enzymes with prebiotics and probiotics and give this to her several times a day. I leave it out for her to eat free choice as well, but due to mouth issues, she prefers it warmed up. This helps keep her hydrated. I sprinkle a tiny bit of Miralax in it which helps with constipation.
