Kidneys are very important because they remove waste substances from the blood, and maintain the normal balance of fluid and minerals within the body. Once kidney damage occurs, the consequences are usually irreversible. Because the right nutrition can positively impact your pet's quality of life, Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Prescription Diet k/d, clinical nutrition especially formulated to support your cat's kidney health. In fact, k/d is clinically tested to improve quality of life in cats.

Key Benefits

  • Reduced levels of protein to help minimize kidney workload
  • Reduced phosphorus to help maintain healthy kidney function and minimize stress on kidneys
  • Reduced sodium to help maintain normal blood pressure
  • Increased levels of omega-3 fatty acids to support kidney health
  • Increased levels of B-complex vitamins to compensate urinary losses
  • Added antioxidants to control cell oxidation and promote a healthy immune system

KD Cat Food Recently learned that my 14 year old had kidney failure. Was very worried that he would not take to this new food but he loves it. No worries about weight loss due to not eating. December 19, 2013
Cat loves it My cat loves dry food more than K/D cans. I have tried to give him less dry food as the moisture content is better in cans and he also throws up rather much due to hairballs if he eats too much dry food. Well, he's not having any of that! He cries till I feed him this dry food, knocks down things to get my attention. He really loves this food. March 12, 2014
Our 15 year old cat has kidney failure. We bought both the wet and dry food and mix it together. He loves it! Our 15 year old cat has kidney failure. We bought both the wet and dry food and mix it together. He loves it! July 23, 2014
Helps to keep our cat stable Our "kidney" kitty has been eating this for years. We have been told that may cats don't like the taste but he adjusted to it quickly and with his meds he appears to be doing well and has outlasted our expectations for his life expectancy. June 24, 2014
Loves K/D dry cat food We tried the Hill's K/D prescription canned food but our cat quickly got tired of it and refused to eat it. He loves the Hill's K/D prescription dry cat food and is eager to eat it whenever it is dinnertime! May 14, 2014
RX My cats will eat the dry food but not the canned. Since it's a prescription, there really isn't much choice. April 22, 2014
Not appealing to our cat. One would like to think a company dedicated to being the best food for our pets had the ability to create a food that our pets would eat. Our beautiful Jack is in the early stage of renal failure but he refuses to eat the k/d. Please Hills - give us a helping hand so we can keep our beautiful cat babies with us as long as possible. March 22, 2014
Good for my cat's kidneys Molly has kidney problems at age 14, and I am so happy to be able to feed her this food so she can have a happy life. October 14, 2014
