Product Description

Food sensitivity and intolerance are potentially serious problems that can result in sensitive or irritated skin, coat and ear conditions or even gastrointestinal upset. Cats that have a food sensitivity or intolerance, also called adverse reactions to food, typically experience an abnormal response to the protein in the food. If your cat suffers from adverse reactions to food, it is even more important to feed the right food. At Hill's, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to help manage your cat's dietary sensitivity and help reduce the possibility of adverse reactions to food.

Key Benefits

  • Hill's is going through a packaging change: Original was formerly Ultra; same great formula, just a new name!
  • Formulated with Hill's Hydrolyzed Protein System, highly digestible proteins that minimize the chances of adverse reactions to food
  • A single, highly digestible carbohydrate source to help avoid adverse reactions to food
  • Highly digestible carbohydrates and fats to help reduce gastrointestinal workload
  • Increased omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids to help nourish the skin
  • Added antioxidants to help maintain a healthy immune system and skin barrier function

Customer Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Like a miracle! My cat had extreme allergies and suffered for a year until my vet put him on this food. His face and skin cleared up and his quality of life was greatly improved! November 22, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by product success My cat has irritable bowel and has had many hospitalizations. Z diet is working well. We feed solely Z diet in small portions, many times daily. November 24, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Expensive, but well packaged The cats don't go for this too much, but I'm feeding them a lot of soft food right now as that is probably more appetizing. The packaging is good in that it is resealable. November 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by really helped my cat Before I switched to this food my cat lost several pounds and could hold nothing down and had horribly stinky, runny poop. Since switching to Hill's z/d, he is back to normal. I only wish they didn't put so many preservatives in it. But I have no choice but to keep him on it. Good thing is my other cats can eat it, too, unlike some prescription food, because if my cat gets one morsel of other food he pukes. May 27, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good dry food for dietary issues My two cats seem to really like this food. I have been mixing it into the wet z/d food as well. Unfortunately, they both have had diarrhea despite my efforts to slowly transition it. I am hoping that this will improve since they do find it very palatable and their food options are very limited due to IBD related problems. December 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Chewy and Hills -- a great team! The shipment arrived perfectly, and I was pleased that the Hill's Z/D was so fresh -- with a long future "Use by" date. And at a great price! Kilani ( our Maine Coon ) and Hermes (our Siamese) wait longingly for the Z/D, and their "movements" are now firm and consistent. Many thanks, Chewy October 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Food and flea allergies My cat was prescribed this food (Z/D) by his Vet to combat a serious flea allergy and then a suspected food allergy. He loves to eat this food and consumes about one bag a month. So far, while he is still on antibiotics for the same condition for another week, he is feeling really good. Nothing else is being fed to him, not even treats, to prevent further health problems. Dr. Ethelle Lord Pioneer in Alzheimer's Coaching Remembering4You(dot)Com December 19, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Hills ZD has really helped my cat who has skin allergies. My cat has been using the dry food version of Hills ZD for several years. His skin allergies are totally under control. It took several weeks for results to show but once they did he's been scratch free ever since. I use the dry food version because the wet food had an odor I could not tolerate. January 26, 2016
