The Only Kidney Function Formula He'll Eat
My family and I recently adopted Romeo from the Humane Society, mainly because he was going on 10 years old and so incredibly skinny I knew it couldn't be healthy. Upon taking him to the vet, they theorized that he may be on the way towards Kidney Disease, if not already in the early stages. They gave me two sample wet foods to try, both of which he ignored out right and barely grazed the dry food. I tried milk, tuna water, eggs, and several other recommendations from forums. I also tried various other non-kidney formula cat foods to find out what he DID like... Upon noticing he preferred Purina, I asked the vet if they made a Kidney formula and was written a prescription. He dove right into it, though he still does eat for a while, leave, eat for a while, leave, I'm just happy he's EATING. Sometimes, I add a little of the regular Purina too it, when he's being especially finicky or some water to soften it, but it seems to be working well for Romeo. I'm just hoping he'll gain some weight soon. :/ It also has the added benefit that, if unmixed, neither of the other two cats will touch it (the dogs are another story, however...).

Very happy to have found this product!
From the time my vet diagnosed my Pearl with kidney disease, it has been a struggle to find kidney diet food she would eat. I've been through various products with no luck. However, she loves this food. Before, she would walk over to the dish, sniff at it, make a "pffft" sound and walk away. When I set the Purina NF out, she put her head down, chowed down, and barely came up for air. What a relief. Thanks for the prompt service and your very caring follow up.

We recently adopted a 7/yo rescue cat already in renal failure, and he was on the NF dry formula when we brought him home. We immediately found that he wasn't eating very much at all, and was constantly trying to eat anything else in the house he could get in to. He simply wants meat! He is very thin in the back compared to his shoulders. We decided to order the wet food to help with his need for hydration (he drinks and urinates a lot) and hoped it would increase his palate and satiety. It worked very well. Once we researched what was needed for him in ounces per day, we feed him twice per day, and he eats all of his food (licking the bowl dry). He does get full for most of the day, but is camped out by his bowl waiting for his food about 2 hours before feeding time. Great product for carnivorous animal that can no longer have meat products due to illness. Thanks!

I don't want to jinx anything, but this is the only Renal Diet canned food my cat still seems to like after the initial taste-test. She's very fussy about Where she eats it, and I have to slice-and-dice it into pea-size bites for her, but so far she has finished virtually the entire serving at every meal. She certainly seems to like the taste, and I know she prefers this pate-style to other textures. So I am cautiously optimistic. If you are reading these reviews because you're still trying to find a canned RD food your cat will eat, I recommend trying this one. But please don't tell my cat I said so!

Cat does not like this product.
MaxiCat does not like the pate' style nor the aroma of the Purina NF. Would not recommend for finicky eaters.

This product has helped my elder cat
Since my cat has been eating this food, his kidney function has improved, & he seems more energetic. Teddy struggles with long term diabetes & this has affected his kidneys. He is 17 yrs old & still spry & happy. The food is helping !
