Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Renal LP Modified Morsels in Gravy Canned Cat Food
The only food my cat will eat
My 16 year old cat has chronic kidney disease and was prescribed hills kd food years ago. He refused to eat it, either the dry or the canned, so his condition got worse. His new vet prescribed royal canin and I bought the morsels and the pate for him to try. He absolutely loves the morsels, eats about 2 cans daily. I feed him about one spoon and let him finish it before adding more, this way he doesn't just lick the gravy off.

Excellent Product for Gravy Lovers
If your baby must suffer kidney disease the prescription diets are a must. It is very important to feed high quality protein with a low phosphate. This is the ONLY canned food in this category that has GRAVY. It is also in a 2.5 oz. can, great for small/low weight cats. You may feed 3 cans a days but your cat is always getting fresh. If you do split the can, store the remaining food in a GLASS, covered container in the fridge and don't let your cat see you do this! Make them happy, love them. Kitty loves this
My 18 year old kitty has renal problems and eats Royal Canin renal canned food and LOVES it! The smell is kinda strong but not in a "stinky" way. If it works for my little girl, it's good enough for me.

Fortunately, my cat will eat it
My cat was recently discovered to be in renal failure and needed to change to a low protein diet. The vet gave us several samples, and this is the one she likes. So I'm happy. However...it really smells strong, and not in a good way. There's nothing we can do about that because it's the only one she'll eat and we want to keep her healthy as long as we can. But it really, really stinks. Still, she's much better, between the food and the fluids, so I can't complain.

Our cat with chronic kidney disease slurps up the gravy like it's a treat, and even our cats who are not kidney impaired try to sneak in and get it. We have another cat who is on Royal Canin's GI food for Gastrointestinal distress, and this does not bother him at all, and he enjoys the gravy and meaty bits as well. I highly recommend this food -even for finicky cats.

Not for my girl...
My 14-year-old cat was found to have the beginnings of kidney failure and was placed on prescription food. We tried the dry brand our veterinarian has, Hill's Science Diet, and she totally rejected that after eating about 1/4 of the bag. They special ordered the dry Royal Canin and she took to that right away, so i thought for a treat I'd also get the canned version for her. BIG mistake! She left every morsel, even refusing the eat the gravy. I agree, the smell is pretty bad, and maybe that's what turned her away, but for my little girl, we're sticking with the dry.
