Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Renal LP Modified Morsels in Gravy Canned Cat Food
The only food my cat will eat
My 16 year old cat has chronic kidney disease and was prescribed hills kd food years ago. He refused to eat it, either the dry or the canned, so his condition got worse. His new vet prescribed royal canin and I bought the morsels and the pate for him to try. He absolutely loves the morsels, eats about 2 cans daily. I feed him about one spoon and let him finish it before adding more, this way he doesn't just lick the gravy off.

Katie is doing great!
My 15 year old girl was diagnosed with Renal Disease about 3 years ago. She lost a lot of weight and refused to eat, only drinking water. The vet put her on this, the solid pate' type Royal Canin and Purina NF. She also gets the Royal Canin dry. She has done very well with all of these, changing them as her highness wants a change in menu. I also make sure she gets filtered water. I do sometimes add a little water to the foods as she prefers soupy at times. I do not understand the issues with smell. Royal Canin doesn't smell any worse than the off the shelf grocery store brands. As long as she eats it I wouldn't care anyway. Katie was given 4 months to live 3 years ago. Thanks to these products she is thriving. Her fur is silky and full and she looks and acts healthy. I just wonder why these products are not available in PetCo or grocery stores. I do not need a prescription for her food, as stated in the introduction, I've never been asked. I go into a specialty pet store and buy what I need with no questions. What is with this 'prescription' business for this food anyway?? This food wouldn't hurt even a normal cat. What's the point?

My cat's lab results several years ago indicated that he had kidney failure and after getting him this product, the morsels with gravy, his lab results have been normal, he eats it every day!!

Excellent Product for Gravy Lovers
If your baby must suffer kidney disease the prescription diets are a must. It is very important to feed high quality protein with a low phosphate. This is the ONLY canned food in this category that has GRAVY. It is also in a 2.5 oz. can, great for small/low weight cats. You may feed 3 cans a days but your cat is always getting fresh. If you do split the can, store the remaining food in a GLASS, covered container in the fridge and don't let your cat see you do this! Make them happy, love them. My Fur Face is the cutest in the world :>) Gibber

Fortunately, my cat will eat it
My cat was recently discovered to be in renal failure and needed to change to a low protein diet. The vet gave us several samples, and this is the one she likes. So I'm happy. However...it really smells strong, and not in a good way. There's nothing we can do about that because it's the only one she'll eat and we want to keep her healthy as long as we can. But it really, really stinks. Still, she's much better, between the food and the fluids, so I can't complain.

Kitty loves this
My 18 year old kitty has renal problems and eats Royal Canin renal canned food and LOVES it! The smell is kinda strong but not in a "stinky" way. If it works for my little girl, it's good enough for me.

My kitty LOVES th is stuff!
My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease 1.5 months ago. I tried a few different brands of prescription food and he didn't take to any of them...just leaving the food in his dish and going hungry, but constantly begging for more food.
He'd been eating Royal Canin 12+ joint support and mature 7+ digest sensitive for a while before the diagnosis, so I decided to try their prescription food. He eats every last morsel of his food now and seems content and happy.
Since being on the diet, his fur feels softer and needs less brushing to prevent matts and he's more alert.
I highly recommend this food for picky kitties. I sometimes give him a can of another brand just to keep some variety as he has always liked that, but this is his favorite by far!
