Rated 5 out of 5 by saxon Cat gobbles them down
My oldest cat has the early stages of Kidney Disease. I'd tried the "chewable" dry vitamin pills available for Renal support, but my cat didn't like them at all, and refused food I'd crush them into. But he loves these chewy treats. They're quite large so I can break his daily dose into half-pieces and he thinks he's getting 8 treats. Makes for a nice reward that's also good for him. I can't make any claims yet on what it will do for his health, but as it stands, there's been no ill effects and I'm hopeful. With 120 chews in a bag, it will last him a month, so that's pretty reasonable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pat6849 Good Product, although my picky cats got tired of the taste
My vet recommended these for both my 20 year old female cat with age-related kidney disease and my recently diagnosed 3 year old male cat who has kidney issues and was suspected of having lymphoma. Both cats enjoyed the chews as treats for several weeks, then stopped eating them. I can only guess that the 3 year old just got tired of the taste. The 20 year old has suddenly developed an aversion to anything that might stick to her teeth. Will stop them for a week or so, then reintroduce them. I would recommend them as a supplement if suggested by your vet.

I think the ingredients are excellent for kidney support. However, that has not, so far, been enough of a recommendation to get the cat who needs them to try one. Right now, he's taking medication I sandwich into a treat he likes a lot. When he no longer needs the medication, I'll try putting the herbal supplement into a treat.

However, he licks his front leg after eating, which may indicate it taste like medicine to him. Fastest delivery ever. ordered on a Friday, it was delivered Saturday.

If I mix the chews in my cats wet food he will eat it, otherwise if I give it to him by itself he won't eat it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by luvmycats My cat won't touch these
My vet recommended Renal Essentials. I've tried it in tablet form with my cat. Since grinding the tablets into a powder to mix with food was a real pain, I hoped my cat would go for these Renal Essentials Chews. Nothing doing. She absolutely will not eat these. I guess we'll be going back to the tablets.

Rated 2 out of 5 by OmBaby These are hard
They changed the bag so maybe the bag I purchased was a little old. My cat is older and has had some teeth removed so this hard and very chewy formula is difficult for him to eat even when I break it into several pieces. He tries to eat it but has problems and usually does not finish it. He gets two a day because he won't eat 4 of anything in one day. I give him Kidney Support Gold in the morning to make up for that half dose. I really want him to eat this for the Vit B so I will keep trying. The senior vitamins I give my other cat are soft chews that break apart easily. Not sure why these are formulated so hard and chewy. Would even be better if they were smaller and completely hard. Until I can find anything as a replacement, I will continue to try and get him to eat these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MustLuvCats Better to Get the Tablets
CDK cat did not like. But then again she doesn't like anything that's not hard and dry. Non CDK cats loved this! What can we do?! Anyway better just get the tablets and grind them down into the cat food. She doesnt mind the taste of the tablets so I'll remove these chews from my autoship order next time.
