by cathybus12 A better quality of dry dog food.
I have been researching dry dog foods because our yellow lab has gotten such skin(itching) allergies. I felt it had a lot to do with her diet, and possibly grains. I had tried other grain free dry dog foods, but they really did not help much. I did some more research on the internet and finally decided to try, what I considered, to be one of the top of the line grain free dry dog foods. I chose to try the Acana brand; their grain free. Well, her terrible, constant itching and chewing of paws, as well as yeast infections, has diminished by 98%! I have tried 3 of the Acana grain free flavors. I read that when a dog has allergies to food, it is best to cycle those types so they do not built up a tolerance to one kind of protein. She is on the Pacificia Acana right now. She has liked all the grain free Acana products. Her coat also seems to be softer. Mr. Chewy has the best prices for all our dog & cat food needs, not to mention the terrific selection and always being in stock. We are extremely satisfied with the Acana grain free dry dog food and Mr. Chewy. We also changed our cat over to the Acana grain free dry cat food. Her coat is looking beautiful. If you do the research, you will find out our pets digestive systems were not designed to process any grains. This is why the grains give them so much trouble.
In conclusion, thumbs up for Acana grain free dry pet food and Mr. Chewy for being there making it so easy for us to acquire whenever we need it!!
Thanks again, Mr. Chewy!!

After doing a lot of research, Acana is the brand I prefer. I recently tried this formula and like the fact that I'm able to switch within the different Acana brands and it causes my dogs no issues and gives them a variety. Champion foods makes Acana and Orijen and seem to be on another level than most of their competitor's.

This food is amazing and worth every penny. It is expensive but my three year old Boxer's ears have cleared up after just two bags. She always had red/swollen and itchy ears. I tried everything including several trips to the vet, which resulted in her being prescribed antibiotics which she obviously didn't need. My other Boxer, also a female, has never been so excited at mealtime until I switched to Acana. She literally dances around the kitchen until I set her bowl down, then her little nub tail wiggles the whole time while she devours every piece! Amazing! Now let's just hope Acana doesn't get cheap on us with ingredients or price their product into outer space.

by OSUBullie Great Grain Free Food for Sensitive Dogs
I have two English Bulldogs, one at 6 months and the other at 5 years. This food has been an excellent choice for them. I have tested my 5 year old on all sorts of food. Grain free is BY FAR the best choice and after trying Nutro, Blue Buffalo, and now Acana. I also tried Royal Canin, but this was before I got wise and went to grain free. After I switched to grain free, tear stains disappeared, I don't have to feed as much especially with Acana due to the high quality ingredients, and their coats haven't looked better. Acana definitely made the difference, both the Wild Prairie and Pacifica. I like the Pacifica more because of the fish oils and research that I've done shows better results from fish protein. I would however like to try TOTW to see if I retrieve the same results for less price. Though I don't mind paying a higher price for food to keep an allergy-prone breed dog out of the vet. This food is made by Champion dog foods which is the same makers of Orijen. Orijen is THE best food on the market though some breeds and dogs might not adjust well to that high of a protein content. The ingredients are so fresh within Acana Pacifica, that as soon as you open the bag, you can literally smell salmon. I've had to mix cottage cheese and yogurt into my 5 year olds food since I can remember to get him to eat, but with Acana Pacifica, he literally eats it plain and all but two bits within one serving. Even when I mixed cottage cheese in he would eat in two servings. If you have a picky dog, I've heard nothing but success with this food. If you are curious, try it, I promise that you will not be disappointed.

Acana is an excellent "entry" food into the land of grain-free.... wherein your pets will have far fewer health difficulties, excellent energy, and healing of such things as skin conditions and allergies.
Acana is made by the same company that makes Orijen, and to me, Orijen is the Cat's Meow. Or, the Dog's Bark. It's the TOP of the TOP.
If you try Acana and like it, you will LOVE ORIJEN. Order some Acana, and read what's on the package. Nothing more is needed. I swear!
If you fear the price-tag (like I did!), please rest in the knowledge that you will be feeding your pets only a FRACTION of the amounts you've fed them of food involving grain. When you feed grain-free, and heart-healthy-fats, which are included, your pet will be satisfied with an amount far less than what you'd feed her with most locally-available foods.
If you sleep with your pets (I sleep with seven!) please know that these healthy grain-free foods eliminate FLATULENCE. Ahh..... there is a Heaven, after all!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JoanieGranola Fantastic food - never involved in a recall
I have done lots of research on food ingredients and food manufacturing plants and have finally found a winner with ACANA Pacifica. With all the food recalls over the past year, I've been on the hunt for a brand that manufactures in its own plant AND has fish without other meat AND doesn't have white carbs/grains. I'm very happy with the ingredient list (especially the fish), and there truly is no grain or other refined white product (rice, potatoes, oatmeal). While this food isn't exactly "local" to me, it manufactures a low number of bags in its own facility and has never been involved in a recall -- a big deal for me as I want to feed my dogs a quality food. My 4 dogs love the food and I love how they look and act after eating it. I highly recommend this food to anyone looking for a good product (especially for arthritic dogs).

Rated 5 out of 5 by LuvRotts Nice ingredients
My 2 Rottweilers love this food. Easy to tell the fish content is high. It has a strong fish smell, but the dogs don't end up smelling 'fishy'. If your dog is a grazer like my male Rottie, and doesn't eat all his food at one sitting, you might find this food a little smelly if you're sensitive to that kind of thing. But most dogs are going to gobble it!
