Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula Puppy Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food
Runny Liquid Stools
I have an English Cocker Puppy. He was on ProPlan Puppy from the breeder. He did fine on it. Of course you always want your dog to eat well. So we deicided to switch to this Blue Blue Buffalo Puppy. He loved it, I started slow, like 1/4 BB and 3/4 Proplan. We were going to do this over about 3 weeks. Very slow advancement. Well, we didn't get far. He had liquid runny stools within a few days. Took him off for 2 weeks and tried again. Same thing. He Loves it though! Ate it like a Piranha! So we put him back on Proplan Puppy for a month and have now transitioned him to Wellness Core Grain-Free Adult food now that he is a year old. He doesn't gulp it down like the BB, but his stools are awesome(Firm) and he does eat it well. We're stool experts by the way!

Puppies liked it.
I have 2 mixed small breed puppies and they like the Blue Buffalo Blue with chicken & rice. I have tried several good & expensive foods for them but they seem to like this the best. I will be buying more.
Thanks, Mr. Chewy for the good prompt service.

puppy loves it
had my shepard mix puppy on purina and was told blue buffalo is much higher quality, and once I switched, his coat is softer and he really loves it. The auto-delivery is great too- I don't have to carry 30 pound bags home!

Blue Buffalo is the best
We got our puppy from a rescue shelter, and when we got him they told us he had coccocidia and he was on medication. They also gave us purina puppy chow. We continued him on the purina puppy chow after he finished his med, but he wasn't getting any better. We took him to another vet that tested him for the above mentioned disease... turns out he didnt have that, his little belly just couldnt handle all the junk in purina puppy chow. With in ONE week of switching to Blue Buffalo out puppies stools were normal and he was finally acting like a puppy. We are blue buffalo customers for life now!

I encourage you to google Blue Buffalo reviews before you buy. Here's my story:
I chose Blue because I wanted the best for my new pup. They have quite a recognizable brand and, looking back, there is a bit a prestige factor in buying Blue. I was caught up in the prestige factor. Please don't get sucked into the name.
On paper, Blue is great. But not for my lab-mix puppy. He has had digestion problems, poops (at least) 3-4 per day with at least one soft stool, and his skin is incredible dry and flaky (this is new as of the past few weeks). I have had him on Blue for 6 months and all the while he experienced slight digestion problems as noted above, which I thought to be a result of too many treats or bones. Then I thought it could be the twigs, sticks, and mulch that he likes to eat (possible contributing factor but not enough to lead to real issues). So recently I have really limited his treats and give him no rawhides or easily-eatable bones, as well as the sticks. He still isn't doing well, and now his coat looks like a Head and Shoulders commercial on steroids. Seriously, when I look look under his fur directly to his skin, it looks terrible and I feel awful.
I consulted my vet and he told me to give him canned pumpkin and yogurt for his digestion, and fish oil for his coat. I've decided that there is no way I'm going to pay $55 for a 30lbs bag of food that I have to supplement additional nutrients. I then bought a bag of Blue Wilderness Salmon, but after a day realized that I have been a sucker by Blue's excellent marketing and am going to return that bag.
I have ordered a bag of Fromm Gold from Chewy (Chewy is awesome by the way) based on rave reviews and USA manufacturing (Fromm Gold's $48 for 33lbs is also a nice kicker).
The moral of my story is to do a little research before buying any brand - especially this one - and trust in other consumer's review. I did not do this, and bought Blue for the prestige factor because it's SUPPOSED to be one of the best. If your dog is doing well on Blue, I am jealous.

None of our dogs have been able to tolerate Blue
Unfortunately, none of our dogs have done well on Blue. Pups have over-abundant runny stools as well as adults on the adult formulas. Dogs loose coat/weight. Several that I have talked to that have also tried Blue, have experienced the same issues. IMO, just does not provide enough for growing pups/gestation or for show/working dogs. Maybe great for the average pet owner that does not understand nutrition and conditioning. Strictly an over-priced food catered to the pet market for "People appeal".
