Our dog loves this food We tried the regular large breed puppy food and she didn't really eat it, she only ate it because its the only thing we would give her. But then this wilderness formula came out and I had hoped that it would and we tried it and she loves it. It has a really good smell to it unlike the regular one it doesn't really have much of a smell. We also liked that this formula is higher in protein which is good for her because she is such an active dog. Very good food and now it's all she will eat and eats A LOT OF IT. 6 month rottie July 3, 2013
Sensitive stomach My Finley loved eating this food; however she has a sensitive stomach and her 'poops' you could smell from a mile away. The product is great; but the smell is awful. July 29, 2013
Chief accepted Vet approved I am a PTSD vet and I have an in-training service dog. Chief is a Great Pyrenees puppy and my best friend. Even at nine weeks old he knows when I am having trouble and is always there for me so I will do all that I can to provide the best for him. I recently spoke to our local vet and told her about his diet on Blue Buffalo and this is what she had to say "It sounds like you are give him the best that he needs, I may suggest a calcium supplement to go with his diet but it looks like his is well taken care of". Thank you Blue Buffalo; Chief will be healthier because of you. February 26, 2014
Good stuff I just bought this for my big puppy. I switched from Iams mini chunks. He took to it right away. I was worried that it would take a while for him to adjust to it since I didn't introduce him to it gradually by mixing his old food with the new one. My Amstaff Twister, seems fine. I could tell changes when he went to the bathroom but it was more about a change in color, not consistency. I'm hoping this new dog food will bulk him up because he was getting to skinny for me with his old dog food. September 1, 2013
This product is fantastic We are the proud owners of a throw away dog we named Punkin. She had been on the streets trying to survive and feed her pups. When she came to us she was not yet a year old, very thin and weighed 41lb. Punkin is a Doberman mix and will be a good sized dog. We introduced her to " blue buffalo wilderness chicken large breed puppy food" and she now has a shining coat, lots of energy and seems to grow taller each day. She has gained 16 lbs, continues to grow and is a really healthy dog. Thanks so much August 2, 2013
Eye boogers and loose stools My dog trainer recommended this food but my puppy hated it. I thought he was just being overly picky and tried several things to make him eat (take food away after 20 mins, hand feed etc) but he really, really didn't like it. I had bought a huge bag so I ended up spicing it up with chicken broth but even then he wasn't into it. After a while I gave up though, figuring perhaps it just didn't resonate with his body. I switched to Fromm Gold LBP and he liked that a lot more. He's still picky and not so into kibble, but at least he's eating it. But more importantly, after switching I noticed his eye boogers and loose stools went away. He also occasionally smelled like cat urine and that stopped as well. I hadn't thought those could be from the BB food! I thought he was just sensitive, but when I had a puppy visiting for a few days and she didn't have enough food, I mixed some of the remaining BB with her regular kibble. She, too, got loose stools, goopy eyes and smelled like cat urine! And this is a rescue mutt who normally tolerates anything! My vet said while there is no proof, she's seen a lot of dogs with intestinal issues on this food. Then again, they're into Science Diet, so who knows. But I cannot recommend this product unfortunately. Try Fromms, which is in the same price range, or Farmina if you have a very picky puppy and can afford it (or supplement it as healthy training treats -- my puppy went nuts for Farmina). Our pup seems to like the food and is growing like a weed !! Max is now 6 months and is 45 lbs and is very healthy and "active". My only problem is he seems to smart for me !!! At any rate Max seems to be doing very well on this food ! February 24, 2014
This has all the protein my English Matiff needs. I feel bad that it's no place close to my home to buy this product.my dog loves it and the vets can't believe he is growing so fast. October 30, 2013
