I have an 11 month old French Bulldog who has had severe skin allergies since she was about 5 months old. I tried everything! Before I spent a ton of money at the dermatologist on allergy testing I decided to try California Natural Kangaroo and Lentil formula. I did a lot of research on different limited ingredient dog food brands. I was willing to try anything since her skin was so bad. I mean bad...welts and scabs all over her body and she was constantly scratching herself raw. I stated the food and within 2 days saw a huge difference!! Her stool was finally solid and her skin was clearing up. She actually looked white again not red! It's been about a month now since I changed her food and she is doing very well on it...its like night and day! I would recommend this food to anyone who has a dog suffering from skin allergies. I know every dog is different, but it's worth a try and it will save you a lot of money in vet bills!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AnoniMars Excellent grain-free, alternative protein food
This is an excellent food for all dogs, but especially for allergenic dogs. It’s grain free, has minimal ingredients, and kangaroo is a very unusual protein that most dogs (at least here in the States) will not have been exposed to before. Naturally, I can only assume that Charlie loves this food. After all, he doesn’t speak English. =) He is, however, a picky-eater and California Naturals Grain Free Kangaroo is the first food that he eats completely dry, without gravies or a spoon of canned food mixed in. And, since he’s eating it dry, he’s chewing each bite (he has a habit of gulping his food – an issue which is only minimally helped with the slow down metal balls and special obstacle bowls). Prior to this, Charlie was on a so-called ultra premium, holistic, duck-based food. It was not grain free and he continued to have issues with allergies, hot spots, and recurring yeast infections of the skin and ears. Since switching to California Naturals Grain Free Kangaroo, Charlie’s yeast issues have cleared up and have not come back. In addition, his spring/summer hot spots are considerably better than they were this time last year (before switching). This is a great food--the proof will be in the improved health of your dog, just as I have seen in mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lesa Great Product
I have been using this product for 3 weeks now. I've tried everything and for the past year I have been making my own dog food for my pit/boxer mix. He is allergic to almost everything. This is the first dog food I have found that he can actually eat. I couldn't be more excited. Saves me time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Death1Dealer REMARKABLE!!!! FINALLY RELIEF
I own two English bulldogs. One 3 1/2 yrs old the other 2yrs old. My son was having red itchy paws and yeast infections in between his rope wrinkle. Also having the same brown discharge in his ears. My girl was having very bad ear discharge and her tear stains were dark and smelled. Both were being fed orijen red. And to my discredit, and hard headed-ness, I didn't want to believe it was there diet that was causing these allergies. I was trying to blame it on outdoor allergies (grass, or weed). But I finally gave in to listening to my wife, and tried a limited ingredient diet. She picked kangaroo from California natural and results have been so great, that we no longer have to use different shampoos, stridex pads every day (only for maintenance), and angel eyes for my girl. It really has been a blessing in disguise. I am so happy that both are not miserable with their licking and scratching.

I bought this after trying dehydrated food and my dogs getting sick on it. One of my dogs has SEVERE allergies and we've been through so many supposed allergen foods trying to find something to help him. They have been tentatively eating this but it is hard to tell how it is affecting them because they are still have residual queasiness from the dehydrated food that made them sick. The cats seem to like it though and have been eating it instead of their cat food so I am going to switch their brand of food to this brand!
One thing I have noticed...my dog with the bad allergies gas issues seem to have cleared up since he's been on this food. Before you couldn't even be in the same room as him (or one room over) because the smell was so bad! It didn't matter what brand of food I put him on his stomach was always upset. I was hesitant to put him on this because of the lentils (which are beans) but he seems to be doing okay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JonC Grain-Free Limited Ingredient Formula = Allergy-Free Dogs!
My German Shepherds were prone to food-borne allergies, a very common malady affecting German Shepherds, especially their ears and coats! Purchasing special chow and kibble from my veterinarian was largely ineffective and quite expensive. However, I found Chewy's Kangaroo & Red Lentil Formula Adult Dry Dog Food to be a real panacea on both accounts--and both German Shepherds have been allergy free since I started feeding it to them--and my doing so was about 30% less expensive! At first, I strongly doubted the efficacy of using such "exotic" mixes for dog food; however, I've found them to be the best course of action to ensure the good health of my German Shepherds and I would strongly recommend using such chow if such might be the case...!

Rated 4 out of 5 by MoaniKeala87 Good for sensitive stomachs!
My dog has a VERY sensitive stomach. She used to throw up all the time randomly. I've spent thousands at the vet trying to figure out what was wrong. I also tried every kind of different combo of food. I sent in a hair sample to Glacier Peaks and they sent me back an analysis of everything she's allergic to. She was one food that stopped the throwing up and she loved it, except m y wallet didn't love it at $90 per bag. I was looking for something with just as limited ingredients, as she cannot eat any grains, sweet potato, and potato. I found this California Natural kangaroo flavor online and it had superb reviews. I switched over my girl to this food about 2 weeks ago. Everything went smoothly and she loves the flavor! Seems to be doing great with sensitive stomachs and at around $50 a bag I'm glad I can save some money without jeopardizing my baby's health!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MARSHA31 PITBULL PROBLEM SOLVED
I have a 2 1/2 year old pitbull male who I tried everything with. He enjoys eating all types of food but always got a reaction from something. He breaks out in bad red patches all under his belly area. He is allergic to chicken, beef, duck, fish, venison, lamb and turkey. He also went on the prescription food in which still gave him a reaction. His reaction to rabbit was not as bad, but once I tried the kangaroo it cleared up instantly. He has been on the kangaroo for 5 months with no skin reaction what so ever. I am so happy we have finally found something that he can tolerate. Please try the kangaroo. It will save you money and trips to the vet.
