Rated 5 out of 5Â by Abster A wonderful, simple food!
No nonsense, gimmicks, fillers or garbage in this food. So sorry they discontinued the 30 pound bag but Chewy has a very decent price on the 15lb.
Sorry to be graphic, but you will notice a huge decrease in the amount your dog excretes. No bulk fiber and fillers, waste is drier, smaller, much easier to clean up and THAT means more nutrition is staying IN the dog's body, being used.
I have an Australian Cattle Dog who lives here in the city. He was a rescue and really needs a big ranch to run around, but we can't change that. He is also very aggressive towards other dogs so no dog park for him. Despite the lower activity that he gets, much lower than his breed normally demands, he maintains a beautiful healthy coat and weight on this food. Our vet is very pleased. Buy this food!!

I originally tried the C&P Organix weight loss because I prefer to feed my dogs only organic foods and treats.
The only problem is my little dogs are very picky about kibble size and they seemed to think that was a hair to big for their liking.
So I called C&P and spoke with a very helpful rep. who
suggested the Natural Ultramix Weight Control food. She did explain there wasn't much different in size of the kibble but it was some smaller. She also explained it was not organic but the next best thing to it as it is a complete all natural human grade diet.
I have had such good luck with their products I decided to give it a go. As it turned out the kibble size was smaller but just a tiny bit. That tiny bit may not have been much to me but it was to the dogs. They liked that minimum difference a lot.
I am one of those pet owners who taste tests before feeding. This one passed the test. The fruits and vegetables especially. It also passed their taste test in a big way. They had never had fruit and veggies in their food before and they liked the combo very well.
While this is a " weight management " diet you can also use it as a weight loss diet depending on how you feed. I maintain the weight of my younger dog while feeding my older dog to lose weight. Altogether that is about a cup and1/2 a day for both. The great thing about this food it is very filling and helps form small firm stools. A little goes a long way making the food much cheaper than it may seem. I dont mind spending extra on organic or all natural foods because they typically go further, last longer,no allergies and few to no unwanted trips to the vet. At least that has been my experience since going all in on food and treats. All things considered I have found these products much healthier and just as cheap.
With all the horror stories we have been reading about
dogs dying from chews and food made in China it is nice to know you are feeding 100% made in America foods to your best friends.
In my opinion this food is a very healthy balanced diet. I know I don't eat my quota of all natural chicken, fruits and vegetables everyday. So I guess my dogs eat better than myself. :)

by horseythingz Terrific holistic dog food helps maintain weight
My German Shepherd is very picky and I was always having a hard time getting him to eat. I wanted to find a food that was all natural, no by products, and that had Glucosamine & Chondroitin in it for large breeds. He loves this food and it maintains a good weight for him this way he does not get overweight, he loves to eat the food. I think he likes the tiny pieces of banana, peas, carrots, and cranberries. This is made by a private company not a big corporation that tends to have recalls on their food.

My dog lost 25 pounds eating this dog food and he's kept it off for three years. Yes it's pricey but my black Lab only needs 2 cups a day because its so full of good things and has no fillers. You can actually identify the big chucks of fruits and veggies. My only disappointment is that Castor and Pollux has discontinued making the 30 pound bag.

I've been feeding my dog Castor and Pollux food for about a year now and she really likes it, and although she isn't overweight, she's close enough to the maximum she should weigh that I think she should shed some weight. I had tried other weight management food which made her smell bad; however, there are no such problems with this. When I've switched my dogs to weight management foods in the past that were the same brand as their own food they didn't want to eat it, but that hasn't been a problem here- she LOVES it and she is losing weight. She likes it as well as the food she was eating, which is considerable. Highly recommended!

When my female started getting a little chubby we started looking for weight loss/maintenance food. It wasn't as easy as I thought.
I tried 2 of the top rated foods and one she won't eat and the other she would but didn't like it. I should say both had very Tiny kibble. Smaller than anything my dogs or I had ever seen. I have no idea if that was a factor or not.
I tried the Natural Ultramix Weight Management and had much better luck. The kibble was of the size they were use to. The love the pieces of dehydrated fruits and veggies.
It has quality ingredients and the guaranteed analysis
is pretty balanced.
I would recommend it more for weight control than as a weight loss food for a more obese dog but I do think in time it would work. I can attest they will eat less and fill up faster.

We feed all of our dogs Ultramix Grain-free. Our chihuahua has been slacking on his exercise so we switched him to Ultramix Weight Management. He loves it just like the regular. It also has bits of dried fruits/vegetables.
