I haven't had these long enough to test how well they compost.
The bags do feel different; more of a silky feel. They don't stick to themselves, but if you have dry fingers, getting a purchase on them to open them up can be difficult. I have a problem with my dry fingers, but it isn't a big deal. Since I don't like licking my fingers, I will dip my fingers into the dew on the grass or into the snow. If that fails, I'll stick my fingers into the dog's mouth- she likes it when I do that anyway.
The bags tear along the perforations nicely. If I were to start ripping like a crazy man, that may tear the bag itself. I've had problems with other bags that tear poorly along the perforation, so I've developed the habit of being careful, which doesn't slow me down.
The bags are translucent so you can see the poo. I don't care about that. Not having dyes in the bag is a good thing for the environment.
The design on the bags don't have the little puppies running around along the opening. I miss that.
The worst thing, honestly, is how the bags are sealed on the bottom. They don't leak at all, but are bunched to the middle. All the other bags I have used have a flat seam along the bottom and look kind of like a square sandwich bag. Because these bags are bunched on the bottom, you lose some volume. My dog doesn't leave such big piles that I need every square inch in a bag to pick it up, but for those of you who find that the bags you use now are barely adequate, you may find these not quite large enough.
The bags hold up well to punctures just like the other ones. They also are easier to tie a knot with.

We're professional pet sitters and dog walkers. We use a lot of bags. I didn't want to keep using plastic doo-doo bags. And many of the "biodegradable" bags sold in stores here actually say in fine print that they do not degrade to CA standards. So I looked online and found the earth rated products. We purchased the biodegradable ones in bulk and bought the compostable ones to try, because they break down within 40 days we thought that was better than just biodegradable. They are a little difficult to get open, which can be a drag when you are walking multiple dogs. But the product is solid. For a compostable bag, that's important. Glad we bought them, wish they came in boxes with more rolls available.

These are harder to use material is filmy and hard to open and tear off. However, I feel better using them and they're adequate to good--just not great.

The bag is very thin, making it more difficult to open. I've figured out the best way for me to work with the bag and I'm going to continue using it. I'm so happy to have a compostable, non-plastic alternative, to pick up after my animal. Thanks.

Bag is a little thin and flimsy and somewhat hard to handle and deal with but for the environment I can deal with that. Could be a little deeper to as I have a big dog and need a big handful. I had to change my way of using because I don't use dispenser; I like to just dump the rolls into a basket by the door Anterra off one to stick in my pocket on my way out, but each role doesn't have sticky tape to keep it sealed until use The first one so they all came unrolled in the basket into a tangled messvg. No big deal just have to keep them in the box they came in until ready to use. I am overall happy with the bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Willie21 I want to like them
I want to like these bags---just like I really wanted to like this company's dispenser---but they drive me nuts. They are very thin, like other such bags, but the real problem is that they are really difficult to open. This sounds like a minor point---how tough is it to open a bag, really?---until you are in a situation in which you are juggling a moving dog and something that needs to be picked up quickly. I found these bags to be maddening. I haven't had this problem with other bags and will, unfortunately, have to buy those instead.

Cheaper per bag than other brands and claiming to be environmentally friendly, this seemed like a no-brainer. The bags fit our dispenser (not EarthRated) and are easy to pull and tear. The only problem is that they rip a little too easily. 1/3 times the bag will split down the seams and you have to grab gracefully. Again, they're cheaper and eco-friendly, so it's kind of a toss up. I'd recommend purchasing, pulling delicately, and being ready for some creative finagling every now and then.
