Hunk of Beef is the perfect name for Evanger's Grain Free Beef. Actually, I call it chunks of beef - I need a fork to dig it out of the can. I have three senior dogs who all come running the second the can is opened. This is supreme food and they know it from the scent, and love it in their dishes. It is understandably pricey because of its purity. I cut up a chunk, spoon out some of the gravy, and then add dry food and the guys are ecstatic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hollabackgirl A lifesaver for my senior anorexic dog!
Evanger's has transformed my dog's eating behavior. Now she looks forward to meals, and "Hunk of Beef" is one of her absolute favorites. Delicious, flavorful broth and nothing else but big chunks of 100% beef. Sometimes it looks like pot roast, other times it's more rare, and looks like you could slice it and make a roast-beef sandwich! The "black bits" another reviewer mentioned seem to me to just be the normal browned bits you get when roasting beef. It's never smelled funny to me. Occasionally, I'll open a can and it might look a little less appetizing but never inedible or rotten, and she gobbles it down just like every other one.
More slam-dunks: Pulled Beef, the Whole, Hand-Packed Chicken Thighs, and the Organic Cooked Chicken, (which is more of a pate, and kind of stinky, but she starts eating it before I can finish putting it in the bowl).
Now that she enjoys eating again, I've been able to introduce some (less expensive) Merrick's and Nature's Recipe canned food, but Evanger's is still the best, and highest quality, in my opinion.

My dogs love this food. It has great flavor( I'm sure) and scent. I use it to make their dry food more exciting. I put a small bit in the bottom of the bowl, add hot water just to get the fats and juices flowing, then add the dry food and stir. They think I am the best cook!

Great for the finicky eater. A lot of broth, which can harden a bit in the fridge.
Yes its high quality...and the price you pay is high too.
Only issue I have, there's no added vitamins. Might be better considered a supplemental food source. I mixed with a quality dry food, dog still loved it.
If you believe a hunk of meat alone is all your dog 'needs' then its perfect. Limited ingredient diets maybe.
I'm not a vet, but I like added vitamins for my pooch. Maybe I'm wrong.
