Grandma Lucy's Artisan Grain-Free Venison Freeze-Dried Dog Food
Wonderful product! I HIGHLY recommend this dog food.
Our boxer developed allergies to...everything about a year and a half ago. Constant scratching, twitching, major hair loss. The scratching was so bad that he ended up with sores all over his face, ears and paws. After trying many different foods, our vet recommended pure venison (absolutely no other animal fats or fish of any kind). The only food we found was California Natural. It made a huge difference but did not completely stop the itching and he continued to lose hair. As luck would have it, that dog food was recalled. I could not find any other alternative dog food that didn't have any other animal fats/proteins, but our pet store had one small bag of this Artisan Grain-Free Venison Freeze-Dried Dog Food and so we tried it (we had no other options after all - I was very skeptical when I bought it). First of all - he LOVES the food. I mean LOVES it. But most importantly, it COMPLETELY fixed his itching, twitching and all of his hair grew back. It took about a week for the scratching to stop and about another 3 weeks for all of his hair to grow back. I don't know what the magic ingredient is in this food - I say the garlic :) - or if it's just a combination of it all, but it has seriously changed our dog's life (and ours!). He's back to his normal, happy self. Again, I HIGHLY recommend this food for any dog that has allergies!

Dog's love it and are thriving
We have been doing a lot of research on dog (& cat) food for our four dogs and a cat. We can't afford to do raw and since both my husband and I work full-time we don't have time to cook for our pets, so we try to figure out the best food for them that reasonably fits within our budget. We've tried different dehydrated and freeze-dried foods and have been very pleased with Grandma Lucy's. The 10 lb. bags produce a really large volume of food. The price is comparatively very reasonable when you look at competitor brands. The food reconstitutes very quickly and looks and smells like real food. I have noticed some complaints about seeing a lot of potato flakes and not very much meat. If you read the bag or look at the Grandma Lucy website, you can see that the protein levels are average or above average compared to other similar foods. I think the Venison has 28% protein, and other varieties are in that same ballpark. Pork is significantly higher at 39%. The meat is ground very finely and you can't see most of it. They do leave a few pieces behind and their rationale is so you can see the quality of meat that is used. Our dogs have been doing exceptionally, noticeably well on this food. Their eyes are bright and their coats are healthy, soft, and shining. We have a 13-year old Westie who is exhibiting more energy than we can remember, and who seemingly has overcome all of his skin and allergy problems through diet. We rotate GL varieties and we mix the GL food half and half with premium dry kibble. I also like the fact that from what I have read, Grandma Lucy has never been involved in a recall.

Dogs Love it!
We have two mixed-terrier breeds (15-17 lbs each) and were looking for a grain-free, natural, no-filler, USA made dog food that was easy to prepare. After receiving a recommendation from a friend who fosters shelter dogs, we tried Grandma Lucy's Venison dog food and couldn't be happier. Both dogs love it. One has a sensitive stomach and we saw an improvement in his digestion within a week. Both dogs are noticeably "regular" and their energy levels have increased. A bit pricey but feel it's worth it if their tummies are feeling good.

1 Week Review, Great Quality Food for your 4 legged kids
In the past ... I have used Natures Variety Raw, The Honest Kitchen and Dr. Harvey's Canine Health the miracle dog food pre-mix. These are all great foods ... so after my first week with Grandma Lucy's Artisan Grain-Free Venison Freeze-Dried Dog Food ... I have praise for it ... great stuff; Dakota and Tara love it, I use it as a pre-mix, adding shredded carrots, organic lettuce, a Roma tomato, fresh frozen blueberries along with some hamburger and a couple tablespoons of Dannon Full-Fat yogurt. I am using only about 1/2 cup of Grandma Lucy's mix per serving. It's a my custom mix ... but it works well.
I highly recommend Grandma Lucy's Artisan Grain-Free Venison Freeze-Dried Dog Food and other flavors as well.

Wish it had more Venison and less potato.
My dogs loved this product, my only concern was their was very little venison in the large bag. I was hoping that it didn't have as many white potatos, but it has quite a lot of starch and carbs. I must say when you add warm water to the product it smelled so good I would become hungry! The garlic and stew flavor drove my dogs into a drool fest! The all ate it without any coaxing and would finish every last bite. They all did very well on the product, but I am going to try their Rabbit Chicken version next to reduce the carbs and increase protein; hopefully it will be just as tasty for my pups. If you have a picky eater... I would highly doubt they would have problems eating this! Great product and not too hard on the pocket book for a RAW/dehydrated food.

My dogs really love this food. They ate it better at first than they do now but i think they just get tired ofnthe same thing. I am going to switch it up with other flavors. I do wish this food had bone and organ in it like the Nature's Variety brand. Since it does not, I purchased the supplement that NV has whhich includes the bone and organ in a powder. They love it and the whole meal smells good enough for me to eat.
