My vet has recommended this very expensive dog food for my Aussie, whom just had $1000 worth of surgery to remove gall stones. I am paying this for the health of my dog, but why is it so darn expensive? I hope that this will help her and not have to encounter any more expense due to dog food.

by RobinD Excellent for Bladder Stones
Abbey (Yellow Lab/Basset Hound) has been on this food for over 4.5 years to stop bladder stones from forming. Before starting this product, she had to have surgery to remove more than 37 stones. Some of the stones were the size of dimes, nickels, and quarters. She was in very bad shape! Fast forwarding to the present, she has not had one stone since then. Please note, that Abbey only gets fed this food for her breakfast and supper. She does not get any commercial treats whatsoever.

I have a 13 yo standard doxie who was creating crystals . This food has removed the crystals from her urine and she eats it. The price is reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Gonzo Great for preventing bladder stones
We have used Prescription Diet c/d for several years now, and our Schnauzer has not had any further problems with his bladder stones since he has been on this food. I would absolutely recommend this food to anyone whose dog is having a similar problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by puglover5 Good for bladder, but can cause weight gain in senior overweight dog
If your senior overweight dog is prone to gaining weight
you will need to change to the w/d formula. I had a months supply of the c/d when I noticed the weight gain in my dog. Be sure your vet is aware of this if your dog has been on another dog food for overweight dogs.
Your dog will gain weight changing to the c/d formula.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JCfamily Hill Prescription Diet C/D-Good food for good dogs who have bladder, or digestion problems.
My vet prescribed HPD C/D for my dog after some potential bladder "crystals" were found because the dog was uncomfortable and clearly something was painful and wrong. Now that he is eating C/D exclusively, we are hoping the problem will clear up and he will live a long life with his family! Thank you, Hills.

My German Shepherd was always bothered with urinary tract infections and bladder stones. She started eating this food several years ago, she has not gotten either one since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sophie70 An excellent experience!
My dog has some urinary problems and can be a finicky eater. When my vet prescribed Hill 's Prescription Diet c/d Canine for Urinary Tract Health I was afraid she would not eat it. No worries, she eats both wet and dry formulas with no problem. Her urinary issues are in check. I am also very happy with the price and having it delivered to my home every few months. No delivery charges with $50+ total.
