I have a beautiful 8 year old White English Lab. By nature he loves to eat (everything), he has eaten himself to a scale tipping 114 lbs. Before you fuss at me I have two other pups , both rescues that eat the same food and are at their standard weight, not fat and very healthy. My big buddy just needs a better food for his metabolism. My vet, Dr. Tim Loonan a prior Vet for the military suggested we try this diet. We've just started and I will give an update in a few months. The food is very appealing to his taste buds and he is getting enough food that he doesn't appear hungry , so we will see how this works for him. Will post more as we see results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Frannismom Four dogs, they like it
Four dogs, two obese and two wnl.
The finicky two love it (thin ones of course) they get other food, but that doesn't stop them from trying to poach a few morsels! The two obese dogs like it, they don't eat as fast with this food as well.

As far as the product...since I do not dine on it....I cannot be honest about the dog food. We are trying to get our dog's weight down and he seems to enjoy eating it!

She eats this better than most diet foods. Still not what a dog wants, but when it is a necessity, one of the best options available. My other dog prefers this over his high protein IAMS, but he is not on a diet and I don't want him eating. Still waiting to see if we have a weight-loss benefit.....

We have a Miniature Schnauzer who needed to lose a few pounds. We put him on this food and after several days his coat was dull with lots of dandruff type flakes in it and the last 2 days he was on it he vomited twice one day and 4 times the next day. We discontinued the food and put him on Fromm's weight reduction and his coat is getting back to normal and he seems to be doing great on it. This may work for some dogs but not for mine. He is not a finicky eater but this formula did not work well for us. I am disappointed because we bought a large bag and now we will just have to throw it away. We tried to donate it but they would not take an open bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Navygirl Great for weigh loss
My New Foundland Labrador Retriever, Stormy, needed to lose weight. She is 10 yrs old and I could see how the extra pounds were starting to effect her especially when she would get up from lying down. I called the vet and he gave his recommendation. She has been on Hill R/D for ?? not sure but she has gone through 1 bag. She was weighed at the vet today and she's lost 10lbs!! Woohoo! It's going to be so much easier for her. I would like to see her lose 10 more. : )

Rated 5 out of 5 by Shibamom Dogs slimmed down and like the food
We had tried other weight reducing dry foods in the past but we did not see the results that we got with the r/d. Our dogs did not have a lot of weight to lose but this worked great for them along with their regular exercise. This was by far the best way for them to lose the weight and they liked the r/d just by its self. Since the vet is pleased with the weight they are at now, we mix the r/d with another healthy food to keep them at their optimum weight. It just changes it up a bit for them. The vet said to just keep on doing what we are doing as they are very healthy.

This was a prescription brand to help my dachshund remain at a good weight. This breed is proned to becoming over weight and developing back problems. At 4 years of age he gets plenty of exercise and has a voracious appetite! Sammy loves the taste (bite size)which I, from time to time, augment with some green beans, soft carrots or fresh sweet peppers. His coat is healthy and the Vet is thrilled at his weigh-ins of 18 lbs! Negative: can make him "gassy".
