by HouseofTwoBows All natural chew that will have your pet BEAMing in delight
This is one tough fish skin chew. We got a box of TALLS. Each piece was about 10 ~ 12" long, and each box was generously stuffed with at least 10 pieces. Both of my dogs devoured their stick with gusto. The more vigorous chewer (30 pounds) finished his in about 5 minutes, while the daintier one (20 lbs.) took twice as long. With its hard texture and ridged surface, it seems like a great dental workout.
While the product does smell very strongly of fish, at least there's no mistaking the ingredients -- pure Icelandic fish skin, which is sustainably caught, I might add. My dogs generally do well with fish-based products, which is part of why they have such great skin and coats. This product is not terribly oily or messy though... not that the dogs so much as a crumb to clean up.

My Chihuahua does not care for them but my Collie loves them. I freeze them and it takes longer to chew and cuts the fish odor.
I think they are a good treat although not a substitute for Bully sticks.

My German Shepherd loves rawhide, but I don't like that it may contribute to bloat. I was looking for an alternative treat that will keep him occupy long enough when I clip his nails. Beams is one such treat. He loves it and it is strong enough to keep him busy for 5-10 minutes while I groom him (he is a power chewer). The tall is a good foot long - hard to store, so I cut it in half - works fine.

For most cookies and treats our dogs crunches through them right in front of us. For a "Beam" she looks right, she looks left, and she skulks off to eat this in privacy indicating this is a HIGH VALUE treat. We know she's done because she wanders back all happy, with slightly fishy breath. Silly girl. Love these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LarryFromBoston Great treat and lots of it
I got the tall version, and I didn't realize how much we'd be getting for one order. There are probably 20 sticks in the box. For my puppy, each one can last quite a long time. The perfect treat for a long drive. Although, it's fish, so you can smell it. But, so can my pup who loves to gnaw on it. My puppy would probably take a 2 hours to work through one. Right now, she can't even finish one because it's so big. Overall, it's a long lasting treat that is super healthy and different than any other treat my pup gets. So, definitely recommend it. Oh yeah, it also comes in a resealable bag which is nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cindyweims2 Our Dogs go CRAZY for these!!
These treats are dehydrated fish skins that still have occasional bits of fish attached. They are tough & meant to be used as a chew, you cannot tear them & will need scissors if you wish to cut into smaller pieces. Our dogs love the flavor of these so much that they have practically swallow them whole at times trying to finish first & steal the others...this has caused no problems with choking (I have larger dog & a puppy). We will often hold the long stick for a bit to encourage them to chew it & make it last a bit longer. We have also cut these into smaller pieces & fed as treats. My older dog will chew on it this like a bully stick when there is not competition.

The course of actions my dog took the first time she got one:
Take quickly from me, run off to her bed.
Put treat in her bed, proceed to roll on it head first.
After she rolled long enough, or was hungry enough, settle down to eat.
First one took her about 45 minutes to eat. She must have learned the trick, since they take less than 5 minutes to eat now. On the other hand, she will take this over any other chew we give her, and the only thing she will ignore for these is her food from Orijen, which she actually bounces for. These then get placed securely in second place in her mind, so for $8 does the quantity meet quality? Yes, yes it does. This will be ordered quite a bit.
I got the small bag, it contained a BUNCH of fish skins, although most are super skinny, it still has a bunch. This is certainly quality -and- quantity, and I am thankful for Chewy allowing me to find these.
