Kyjen Orange Outward Hound Dog Life Jacket
Life Jacket is perfect for getting a crippled dog downstairs
My arthritic dog can no longer make it down the steep colonial era staircase in my home, although he whines to come up and be with me every night. For weeks, I carefully studied the design and features of all dog harnesses available for helping crippled or senior dogs. None seemed suitable because of poor design relating to the comfort of straps around the belly and chest, a short strap that hooked into the dog collar pulling unfairly at the dog's neck, and all had manageability issues relating to the dog's weight distribution versus the placement of handles on the harness for lifting the dog. A best choice was the sturdiest harness on the market at well over $100. A friend suggested a doggie life jacket. I want to exclaim over the brilliance of his suggestion. The Outward Hound Life Jacket could not be more perfect for carrying a heavy dog comfortably and safely down my steep staircase. I spent around $20. If it starts to fall apart, I'll get another one just like it because the life jacket has extended my dog's quality of life. I am a satisfied customer. Please share this idea with everyone you know who is considering a harness for helping a dog with staircases.

Awesome Life Jacket
This came to me today, I actually ordered 2 of them. The first is for my 1 yr old Pug/Jack Russell Mix, so I ordered the medium cause everything seemed to match but he is odd shaped so I wasn't sure, well to make long story short, AWESOME..... Now my 2nd one, that one scared me more, cause this one was for my 10 yr old, 118 lb Boxer... Now everything matched as far as neck size, length but the weight only went to 90lbs, but I thought I would risk it anyway and hope for the best, well I tried it on Steeler who is , 39" at the girth, 118 lbs, it turned out GREAT... I don't have a lot of play room with the girth area but I only really need it to work when we go on vacation, we will be on boat so our fur-kids need their jacket too.. SO if you have a little larger dog and everything else matches, you might want to give it a lot of thought... ALSO, they are not REAL bulky, I have seen some that are all godly bulky that the poor dog cant move, mine moved great.... AWESOME PRODUCT AND AWESOME PRICE TOO, THANKS CHEWY,.....P.S. I will get pictures of my fur-kids with them on later today when I show my husband....

Close on sizes
If your dog is close on 2 different sizes go with the larger size. The smaller one will be too small. I have a 22lb Boston Terrier that had a 22"girth, the size small was too small for him. I had to call and get a Medium sent to me.

We took our little Boston Terrier out yesterday in the boat and he loved it. Life vest was easy to pull on and off. 5 stars!!!! Also sizing chart was very accurate

Outward Hound is the only pet life jacket that I have found that has an under the chin flotation material. When we kayak we take the dogs with us and knowing that your dog's head will be lifted up if they get tired give me peace of mind over my pet's safety.

Product not good.
I purchased two life jackets and have only used them one time the orange one is coming apart down the sides of it. I do not know what has happened to this product after only one use not made well or just old. So I wouldn't recommend buying it. The pink one I got is great no problem yet. Very unhappy with the orange one what a waste of money.

well made and secure on the dog
Well, I wish I could say that I had a perfect experience with the life jacket, BUT, you see my dog is so afraid of the pool that when I urged her from the second step to the third step, it was all over. The product worked, she floated, but was very insistent on high-tailing it OUT of the pool. Imagine, a Dobie so afraid of the pool. Oh well, I tried and will try again another time. The product is great!

Well made product.
I have to go with 4 out of 5 stars suggesting caution when ordering the smaller sizes. I ordered an XXsmall for my Yorkie whose measurements and weight were well within the measurements listed for that size. It was just shy an inch of closing around his girth. When I called Chewy, as always they were willing to please, whatever it takes! I was sent an Xsmall, which, alas, ended up being way too big. It seems my little fellow is between sizes. I'm considering trying to expand the XXsmall to make it usable. Whether it works or not, my opinion of Chewy has not waivered - they are the best and will remain my company of choice for future pet needs.
