Merrick Classic Grain-Free Smothered Comfort Recipe Canned Dog Food
This product does come with bones, but it is supposed to!!! The bones are cooked, along with the chicken thigh in a pressurized mechanism making the bones very soft and edible for your pet. If you see a bone, apply a little pressure and you will see it just crumbles. This is also clearly explained on the side of the can (and those reviews that complain about the bones worry me as the pet owners aren't even reading the side of the can).
Otherwise, my dog loves all the Merrick brand canned foods, but this one is her absolute favorite! I've fed her Merrick brand canned foods for about a year now (I use them to wet her dry food a bit) and have had no problems. Great stool, great digestive health.

DO NOT be scared of the bones! THESE are very safe!
GREAT PRODUCT! I just had to post a review because of people who don't pay attention to EXACTLY what their pets are eating (I also noticed others with my same rant- THANK YOU!). The bones that are included in some Merrick canned foods (off hand, I know of this and Wingaling) are pressurized and super-heated, and unlike chicken bones from your plate, these DO NOT splinter, nor do they cause a choking hazard of any kind! You can test this for your own satisfaction by picking one up and seeing that with just the use of your forefinger and thumb-- the bones actually DISSOLVE into wet mush! No splinters, no large chunks, just bone and marrow mush! As soft as the cooked meat itself, if not softer! What more could a pup want than a chicken bone that mom and dad will actually allow him to eat because of its safety?! If having the physical proof between your fingers isn't enough for you, then simply READ THE SIDE OF THE CAN THOROUGHLY, as you should ALWAYS do anyway for ANYTHING you feed to ALL the precious members of your family. Aside from this rant, I must tell anyone to try this product (as well as any other of Merrick's food items)! It is very hard to find a truly healthy, wholesome food (dry or wet) for dogs that is also actually very tasty to them! Merrick's line of foods comes as close to the tastes of the "people food" they love without the extra fat, and having ingredients and preparation methods that are very healthy, safe, and complete nutritionally for the dogs we love. This is even more so true for those of us with very picky eaters (like mine!). If your dog loves Wingaling by Merrick, he/she will love Smothered Comfort as well (and vice versa)! Please, before you post a bad review of a product, be sure you are educated on the subject (or just read all you can about the product to make sure you're not mistaken). Also, please do not give bad ratings to a great product just because your picky poochie doesn't prefer it over others. That affects others' opinions negatively whose dog may have otherwise loved the product. I apologize, but it is a pet-peeve (pun intended) of mine for people to give anything but a completely fair review on any subject. Especially since it may cause others to miss out on something wonderful! Thanks! :)

My picky eater's favorite
My pup is a very picky eater and she loves Merrick canned food...and Smothered Comfort is her favorite. She is 10 this year and is doing great on Merrick food. She's been eating Merrick now for 6 years.

Good canned food and wholesome.
My pugs love this over their dry BLUE dog food. I only use one third can over regular feeding. Makes dry food more tasty for them.

Excellent is right!
I could not believe the large pieces of chicken in this dog food. I mixed 1/2 the can with some Acana Lamb & apple and my dog devoured it!! He's one happy puppy!

Chicken bones in can
I found 2 chicken bones in a single can of this stuff. They appeared to be leg bones. One of them was splintered, the other intact. These are a choking hazard. Be careful if you feed this to your dogs.
Also, this food seems very watery compared to other brands. Compare to Evo or Blue Buffalo canned food. They're much less watery.

Large Bones found in Can
I can attest to the cans containing real chicken, the problem is there are also real bones in there as well. Not sure if anyone else has had the same issue. The first can I opened up there was a fullsize leg bone that appeared cut in half. I stuck a spoon in to pour into a bowl and hit something solid halfway into the can. The second can opened also has contained another large bone fragment.
I'm a bit scared to try the third can, and a bit worried if there is any further small bone pieces mixed into the food.
I purchased a 12 pack because there was a special discount running on Merrick dog food. My dog seems to love the dry food and I figured I'd also get an order of the wet as well.
I'll have second thoughts ordering this same food again.

The perfect sauce
There are times when I feel like the same old bowl of tripe might be getting tiresome for my wolfhounds, so I will use a can of this to switch up the taste. My dogs love it, and it gives them an alternate protein and flavor boost.
