Better Switch than Be Sorry According to my Mal-Shi, this is the best food ever. He waits patiently until he gets it and then he devours it. I love the way his eyes lights up when it's time to feed. I switched from Evangers Grain Free Meat Lover's Medley with Rabbit Dry Dog Food. I switched because Evangers was found by the FDA to have adulterated and misbranded dog foods. June 27, 2013
Great food for my "Olde English Bulldogge" I adopted a 6yo OEB earlier this year. He was on Pedigree dry dog food and his boop was so soft and squishy that you could hardly pick it up with the boop bag, and it was stinky and he had bad gas. I switched to Royal Canin Bulldog right away and his boop got a little less squishy but still very stinky although he had less gassiness. I read about grain-free dog foods and switched him to Fromm brand. His boop got a little more firm, but was still soft and stinky, although the gas problem stopped. I ran across PetFoodAdvisor and saw that Fromm grain free was a 4-star food and decided to switch to Merrick grain free, which was 5-star food, which is the highest rating. Almost immediately his boop got good and firm, smaller and with little odor. I can now use regular sized boop bags instead of the extra large ones I was using for the softer, squishy boop. I used the Royal Canin for 6 weeks and the Fromm for 8 weeks, so I feel like I gave them plenty of time to work. I have now been feeding Merrick grain free for 6 weeks and I have had to cut back on the recommended amount to feed because he was gaining weight. I believe he is getting better nourishment and using more of the food and therefore leaving less waste. Also, the kibble is larger which makes it easier for a large dog #80lb# with an under-bite to pick up. Royal Canin Bulldog kibble is the perfect size, but Fromm kibble is very small round balls, smaller than peas. It is more expensive but you get a healthier dog and it will probably be less expensive in the long run. July 24, 2013
Best food for my dogs! Merrick food is top quality. The grain free is wonderful for my dogs sensitive stomachs. I am extremely happy with this food. It came highly recommended by the breeder we bought our dog from. It is what she feeds her dogs too. July 25, 2012
Good Food, But Be Sensible This is a great line of foods by Merrick. It has a high meat content of quality meats. The dogs are enthusiastic about eating it, coats look good, poops are small, no doggie odor, and all for a good price! What I would be concerned about is making sure your dog is acclimated to a high protein diet before choosing a food such as this. My own experience with dogs is that there are the canine guts of "stainless steal", the "Normal" gut, and the "sensitive" gut. For the latter two, this food can be too much at first. I would acclimate them through a different grain-free brand, lesser protein, lesser fat, before working up to this level. Otherwise, great food! December 28, 2012
Great dog food I switched over to this dog food because my dog needs to be on a grain-free diet. I am glad I did because she absolutely loves it! June 25, 2013
Our dog devours this food! Our Lab loves this! We have always fed him natural dog foods but, this one seems to be his favorite. We have also fed it to our Basset and a visiting English Bull dog. They both loved it too! June 24, 2013
Great grain free dog food My breeded for my labradoodle started him on grain free dry dog food for puppies. When he became 1 yrs old I called her and she recommended Merrick Grain-Free Buffalo & Sweet Potato because my dog has shown a slight allergy to chicken. I made the switch with no ill effects to my dog and he loves it December 19, 2012
Only dry food I will feed my dogs! This is a great food. And all ingredients are from the US. May cost a tad more but dogs require less so it balances out. Big plus my dogs love it - love all the grain free flavors. Best food available if you love your fur babies! September 25, 2013
