Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula Dry Dog Food
life saving dog food
I rescued my dog from the humane society. He moaned and vomited frequently so a trip to the vet for blood tests revealed a bad liver panel and a sad prognosis. His liver was too small for his body.
Instead of putting him to sleep (as suggested), I wanted him to try a strict vegan diet first. Eight weeks later his liver panels were perfect, he stopped moaning and vomiting. I tried every other vegan dog food brand, but he wouldn't eat them or he'd get sick. Now, six years later he's still in perfect health and has never refused to eat this stuff everyday...truly amazing! My Vet thinks I'm a genius, but Natural Balance deserves ALL the credit and I'm just happy I stayed awake during my boring nutrition courses in college. I should note I'm not vegan or vegetarian and never ever go vegan with cats.

As a life-long dog owner, this is the dog food that has worked best after many years of searching for the perfect food. Vegan means that there are no animal products in the food, thus it's a cruelty-free food. I am not supporting meat factories in any way, not adding to any other animals agony. Best of all this is an excellent high quality fully balanced food that my dogs love (4 Chihuahuas, 1 Cairn, 1 yellow lab). It's a complete and healthy meal, nutritionally balanced. I plan to use this dog food for as long as I have dogs, which will be for a very long time.

My dog loves it and is very healthy
My dog loves his food and I love knowing he's healthier. It seems like he's getting all the important nutrient he needs without unneeded byproducts that could cause long term problems. I don't see any disadvantages to this at all so far and will continue to use this. I wish more companies had Vegetarian options.

For a liver-challenged dog
About a month ago my 12 year old dog was diagnosed with liver disease. My vet put him on another brand of liver illness food, which was very high in fat. He was unable to eat it without getting loose stools and I could see that the fat content was off the charts. He has a history of Pancreatitis. We took it back and I began cooking a liver cleansing white fish and vegetable diet, but I wanted to supplement it with dog food for the nutrients and to keep him from losing weight. I happened on this vegetarian food with its low fat and low protein content. I began mixing it with the cooked food and he has done very well on it with no loose stools and seems to love it. We have not rechecked the liver enzymes yet, but I hope this does the trick.

Perfect for food allergies
My chihuahua/terrier mix has severe food allergies (no beef or chicken). This vegetarian formula is perfect for him and he loves the taste. I love that the pellets are not too big for his tiny teeth and it's not very high in calories.

Best food for bulldogs!
My 12 year old English Bulldog is wheat and animal protein sensitive. After transitioning him to a vegetarian diet a few years ago with Natural Balance wet and dry foods, his health has improved and he loves his food! He is thriving and numerous friends and veterinarians comment that he is an extremely healthy and good-looking bulldog for his age. His teeth are looking good even though he does have some wet food daily. . .Digestion is great with the vegetarian formula because it is very easy on tummies.

Love this food!
One of my dogs had severe allergies and were never able to quite get them under control until we got her on this food. She loves it and her skin and ear problems have disappeared!
This food also has all the supplements vegetarian dogs need (L-Carnatine and Taurine) which other vegetarian formulas do not have!
I have since switched all 6 of my dogs to this food and they are all thriving on it.
