Northmate Green Interactive Feeder
My cat was confused...
I tried very hard to get my cat- who inhales food to try this so he could dig for his food and slow him down but he just didn't "get" it. Not saying it would not work for other animals. Maybe my guy is a little "challenged".

Great even for small (8 Pound Dog)
I have an 8 pound Yorkie Poo who was eating his food way to fast. I read reviews that other feeders are too deep for smaller dogs with short snouts so I was worried. This feeder is great and really slows him down. The only complaint I have is that it is HUGE and I ordered the mini. Not that big of a deal but would have liked it a little smaller.

My dog no longer chokes on her food due to fast eating.
I bought this feeder because my dog constantly choked due to eating too fast. Her first time eating from this feeder was hilarious because she went from a little shiny bowl that allowed her to basically inhale her food to a lump-filled, green, plastic maze. So, putting her food into this contraption was just... ahm... huh? She literally had her tail tucked while eating from this feeder for the first time. It took her forever to finish that meal. But, after two or three meals, she got the hang of it. So, if you purchase this product, give it a fair shake. Let your dog get used to it.
I timed her feeding times from the normal bowl and from this feeder. Normal bowl was less than twenty seconds. (Yes, I'm serious. That's not adding in the coughing and gagging time that always followed.) The feeding time for this feeder is six minutes. Consistently, that's how long it takes her to eat from this feeder.
20 seconds vs. 6 minutes
Then you include the factors like what sturdy material this is made from, and the fact that it is so easily washed (even can be put into the diswasher). The price is very reasonable, the quality is exceptional, and the result is a much healthier mealtime experience.

So my boyfriend rescued a dog but because of where he came from he had eating problems (meaning he inhaled his food.) We would set his bowl down and call him, look down and it was gone literally that quick. Many eating problems worried us with this but the biggest was that he was eating about six cups of food a day (he is a German shepherd/beagle mix so WAY too much food for him) and LOSING weight. We tried the ball trick he just was excited that he got a toy with his meal, the same happened with the rock so I found this bowl and decided to try it...SUCCESS! He is now eating TONS less and the normal ten seconds he used to take to eat (this isn't a joke either) he now takes ten to twenty min for half the amount of food and he is gaining his weight and has his energy back. I could not recommend this bowl more easy to use, beneficial for the dog and easy to clean (it goes in the dishwasher if you want but can be washed easy enough not using it) the ONLY downfall is if you step on it its about as bad as a Lego so don't put it near any walkways.

Thought it would never work but it did.
I have a Mini Schnauzer who used to throw up about 30% of the time after eating because she would eat her food in about 30 seconds. She is also very fussy and skidish about what she eats out of so I thought there was a good chance she would not eat from this dish but I figured it was worth a shot. I got the smaller size and her first experience she was cautious but got the hang of it and then actually seemed to enjoy it. Now she absolutely loves it! She gets very excited when it's feeding time. It now takes her about 10 minutes to eat. ( I feed her 2 times a day so it is 10 minutes for a half day portion). She no longer throws up her food and now gets a bit of a challenge with each meal. I love this product! I also purchased the larger size for our other dog which is a Lab mix although she did not eat too quickly I thought it would be fair :-) and also challenge her a bit at meal time as well. She took to hers right away and seems to enjoy it very much.
I have seen these at the local pet store for at least $10 more than Chewy.com so it was well worth ordering on line. They arrived in 2 days.

Not for dogs w/o a small long nose or tongue
It did slow my dog down but I think he had to work hard to get the food. Maybe if the "grass blades" were a bit more thinner/skinnier if that makes sense. It probably works better for Winnie dog that have the longer thinner nose or big dogs with love longer tongues. Over all good idea and will slow your dog down

Slows Down Your Dogs Eating Time
This is the second one we've purchased. The first was used by our Yorkee and the second one by a dog about twice the size. The bowl as been very effective for both dogs and cut their eating time down from gobling to a meal that lasts much longer.

This product not only looks good, it works well!
We have tried many different food bowl approaches to slow down our dogs bad habit of fast eating. I am so glad I purchased the Northmate Green Interactive Feeder. It not only works well but also looks nice and is very easy to clean.
