Redbarn Lamb & Rice Recipe Dog Food Roll
Excellent Dog Food Roll Product!
I began using another Dog food roll from Pets***t to use as treats for training class per instructor suggestion; it worked very well. I also wanted to add a small amt crumbled on top of their kibble am/pm to encourage both of my dogs to get on the same eating schedule, BOY DID IT WORK! But I did some research on the ingredients of the 1st brand & although they weren't bad, RED BARN WAS MUCH BETTER. Ordered a roll, the LAMB due to allergies; & "WOW" THE DOGS LOVE IT!!!
It's much cheaper on Chewy.com than the 1st one I was using & RED BARN ingredients r superior! It is crumbly, but I see that as a bonus for what I'm using it for. I cut 1"/per day, cut into 4 pieces & crumble 1 piece per dog, am/pm on top of the Blue Freedom kibble. I've noticed they "hoover" breakfast & dinner, not a piece left. They dogs have lots of energy, stools r fine, & coats r soft, shiny & glossy. Of course switching to the Blue for my 3-yr old Wymreiner made a huge difference by itself, my Vizsla has been on it since I brought him home @ 11 weeks. He's going on 9 months now & still extremely happy w/Blue Freedom; this has just helped make his kibble a much more exciting meal for the dogs & I like the idea of them getting all the EXTR LAMB PROTEIN, especially the different ORGAN MEATS & THEY'R ON A GREAT SCHEDULE: 7AM/7PMm & since their kibble is still different (puppy vs adult), they eat their own food now. This was a great solution for me, w/great benefits for my dogs. My older dog was forever getting into the puppy kibble & consequently gained some unneeded lbs. so now he's on a restricted diet; have slimmed down his overall food intake & cut out 75% daily treats. But it's working!
After what 1 reviewer said, wanted to clarify; yes refrigerate after opening. Product can last 12 months on the shelf unopened according to mfg. Although I personally wouldn't want it left on the shelf for 1 yr. (This is clearly on the pkg; last resort a person can get on the mfg's website for any questions)

This product is great as hight value training treats!
I like to cut the roll in to segments about three inches long. I then take a segment and cut it in to small bits to use as high value training treats. The dogs love it! I freeze the rest of the segments and take them out as I need them to use. It's easy and it provides a lot of high value motivation, that is healthy too!

dog won't eat this kind of treat, he like liver and chicken
or beef best. need to cancel lamb order and replace it
with liver and chicken.

Red Barn seems to appeal to all breeds, finicky eaters and it is so easy to dispense. No mess, no fuss.

Dogs like the taste - would be ok for a food - but for treats it crumbles when cut into small pieces

My dogs love it!
Easy to travel with, has a year shelf life, kinda like raw but without the mess! Been using it for years. The lamb is a little drier or more crumbly than the beef, so if you are going to use it for bait or treats I would use the beef.

Dog pleasing product!
My eight year old terrier practically stands at attention when she knows she is going to get a Redbarn lamb and rice dog food treat. I plan to use it to train our new puppy. It is a great motivator. I'm happy to know it is healthy product. Lola

Yes or no to recommending...?
The rescue group that I foster for gave me a bunch of samples of this product. I discovered that the dogs loved it and started using it as an incentive for going outside to the bathroom. They look for it when they come back in...even if they had merely walked outside for a few moments and then back in to get the treat. We are involved in a translation barrier as they don't "get it" that they are supposed to use the outside facilities in order to get the treat #and sad to admit, I don't always stand tough on that, either#. All this aside, I can say yes to recommending this product because they love the taste, to no I cannot recommend this product because you seem to have changed the formula and the texture now crumbles. I guess the taste is still there but would it be possible to go back to the formula you used to use? It is now awfully dry, or some such.
