Customer Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 45 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by My dog eats it! My dog is extremely picky and refused to eat other renal diet foods. While I have not been thrilled with other varieties RC has made (he's been on other diets over the years), this one hits the mark right on the head. His kidney values have improved with a combination of this diet and subq fluids, and his system is working the way it should. December 30, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by TRIED THE OTHERS? WHY BOTHER. THIS IS IT! My dog has been on RC LP, MP and also switched over to Hill's Renal Health KD both in can and dry form. After months purchasing all types in both dry and canned. The only one my 11 year old American bulldog loves is RC RENAL LP MODIFIED in cans. SHe preffers it over the dry, it's easier on her teeth and gums and the food is just amazing you can just smell the rich goodness the moment you pop open the can ... And so can Roxy. She will eat an entire can in one feeding. And she's satified and happy, therefore that makes me even HAPPIER!! Thank you RC You're THE BEST! March 2, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great supplement to the dry food. We mix a little bit of this food with the dry version and our golden eats it up. But what's up with the lettering system with little or no explanation? December 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Recommended for Dogs with Kidney Problems My 1-year old Maltese was recently diagnosed with polycystic renal dysplasia, cysts on the kidneys which could be genetic, a birth defect or something else, but very rare. He has no function in one kidney and 50% in the other. The vet recommended this diet which includes/excludes nutrients which maximize kidney function. CHEWY.COM is great because with a vet's prescription it is shipped to your home by the case (24 cans) in a matter of days, cheaper than from the vet. June 26, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Recommend by my veterinarian. Our 8 year old chihuahua was showing signs of kidney decline. Nothing too serious yet, but on the border. This is a food she loves and looks forward to twice a day. She has about 6 teeth left, so we had to switch her to a soft /wet diet. Her kidney levels have improved and she's living a happier/healthier life now! August 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I've had success with this product My 12 year old miniature dachshund was diagnosed with renal disease around April of this year. My veterinarian prescribed the Hills science diet k/d and she happily ate the canned version of it for a couple of months but then she got sick of it. I wasn't sure of what else to give her and then I found an online nutritionist who suggested the royal canin LP and the purina NF. I am so thankful to say that she has been eating both with no problem. The only thing is that the royal canin says on the can, "diet is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only." So because of that, I have been mixing it with the purina NF and she loves it! July 6, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Product for Dogs with Renal kidney / Liver Failure This product was prescribed for my 15 Year Old K-9 (1/2 Pitt & 1/2 Dalmatian Mix) who is suffering from unknown Kidney and Liver failure. Believed to be started from a urinary track infection. We started out on a sample bag provided by the Vet of another top brand Renal K/D food product and my dog seemed to eat it reluctantly (little bacon grease, closed the deal) but not with her normal vitality feeding habits that she has developed in her later years in life. After about 1 or 2 weeks, she would not eat anything other than beg for table scraps and raid the cat dishes (she thinks cat food is dog caviar). And the vet mentioned the RC Renal LP food as an alternative. I am currently feeding here a mix of your dry and wet food product and she is beginning to loose a lot of muscle mass due to lack of protein (purpose of the food), as well as he fact that she is getting 0.3 miles 2 x per day exercise, not bad for a sick 15 year old K-9. Price of RC products is at the premium market level, but worth it for this man's best friend... I would highly recommend it for dogs with renal kidney failure. Obviously preferred by my dog anyway. Rated 5 out of 5 by The only kidney support food my dog will eat I have a very picky Australian Shepard that we just found out has kidney disease. We have completely changed his diet to the prescription kidney food diet. Royal Canin is the only food my dog will eat. I have tried all of the others and he would pick through them and never finish his meal. Then I tried the Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Renal Support T Canned Dog Food and he excitedly anticipates his food. I would highly recommend it. December 7, 2015
