Product Description

Lower urinary tract disease (LUTD) refers to a group of disorders that commonly leads to irritation of the urinary tract and corresponding undesirable clinical signs.

What causes Lower Urinary Tract Disease? In dogs, bacterial infections of the urinary tract and the presence of stones (uroliths) in the urinary tract are the most common causes. This diet promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the development of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Key Benefits

  • Recommended for dogs under 22 lbs at risk of developing lower urinary tract disease
  • Dissolution of pure struvite uroliths
  • Help prevent struvite, calcium oxalate and phosphate uroliths
  • Provides nutrition that aids in the management of pure struvite uroliths
  • Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology predicts the crystallization potential of urine; RSS is used to develop diets that lower the concentration of ions contributing to struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis
  • Contains nutrients to support healthy teeth
  • Increasing the urine volume simultaneously reduces the saturation of urine with calcium oxalate and struvite crystals

Customer Ratings & Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Delivery was prompt We received this product quite quickly despite having to wait for our veterinary to be contacted regarding approval of use by our pet. It is a new dog food for our toy poodle and she is not sure she likes it. Of course, she is a garbage this healthy stuff will take some getting used to! January 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by No more stones! My Shih Tzu has had 3 surgeries for urinary stones until we consulted with a specialist who recommended this food only. He loves it and I even bake his "cookies" from the wet food and sprinkle in the dry for "chips"! Better yet his 5 month check up revealed no stones forming and the ph balance was within the acceptable limits. Chewys is the most affordable and shipping is super quick. I highly recommend both to anyone struggling with this problem. Don't hesitate !! August 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easier for a small old dog to eat. My dog is 16 years old. She has been eating Urinary SO (regular kibble) for years. She is now eating the small dog kibble and it is much easier for her old semi-toothless self to eat. She likes it better too. September 9, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not sure it's working My dog has been on the prescription food for two months now. Not sure if it is working to break up the struvite crystals. Her urinalysis still come back not good. I don't like the ingredients. I would never feed my dog normally corn or pork by products. I wish she could get off of it. February 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has many benefits My Bichon Frise no longer has RUNNY EYES, DERMITITUS on his tail or ULCER on his gum. The small breed formula is tasty having more protein and fat and smelling tasty. The kibble is about the size of a pencil eraser making it easy to chew. My Bichon Frise has always liked it. Ordering thru this product comes directly from Royal Canin company making the kibble as fresh as it gets plus I received it in three days. August 19, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is a blessing for my poodle, she loves it. My poodle had a urinary problem, she would go outside and I would watch her trying to urinate. She would try 5-9 times, this happened over night. I immediately called Vet. made appt. and was there within 1 hr. She tested her and she had blood and cyrstals in urine. My Vet gave me a perscription for Royal Canin SO, within 1 day my dog was urinating 1 time not trying 5-9 times. I highly recommend Royal Canin. My dog loves this food and she was a picky eater. Rated 5 out of 5 by I use as treats! My dog has chronic bladder stones and I use this dry food as her treats because we are attempting to keep all of her food intake in this prescription diet plan. February 28, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by I use the dry food for treats She loves it --- I tell her it is chicken treats ... and she goes to town eating it. January 26, 2013
