The gastrointestinal tract includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon. Therefore, gastrointestinal disease is defined as any abnormality involving one or more of these structures. By feeding your pet a diet that contains precise amounts of key nutrients, you can:

  • Help minimize vomiting, diarrhea,or constipation
  • Help to support and improve the function of the gastrointestinal structures
  • Maintain or improve appetite

The GASTROINTESTINAL diet is formulated to help maintain the balance of gastrointestinal microflora and intestinal mucosal integrity.

Key Benefits

  • High energy density responds to the growth requirements of puppies while reducing the amount of food given per meal.
  • Appropriate levels of fat, calories, calcium, and phosphorus meet the requirements of growing puppies.
  • Kibbles rehydrate easily in warm water to increase palatability and facilitate food intake.

Royal Canin Gastrointestinal puppy food works Our 6 month old Saint Bernard puppy, Ricci, has a sizeable digestion problem. We began using Royal Canin G.I. Puppy food about two months ago, in combination with medicine, when prescribed by a vet. It has hardened the stool, and Ricci is gaining weight like . . . well, like a Saint Bernard. She is getting rounder and stronger. Chewy.com actually delivered the product the next day after ordering, even during Christmas rush. Royal Canin isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. Through Chewy.com two bags were $6 cheaper than through the vet. I'm sold. I can't wait until Ricci can eat the adult G.I. food from Royal Canin. Bigger bags, cheaper cost per pound. Thanks, Gary Jacoby January 10, 2014
Love this puppy food! I highly recommend this food. It has made a wonderful difference in how my puppy's over all health is. Because of it, he now has much better breath, and firm stools. And he likes it, always looks for more. I feel happy to have found it. It was recommended by my vet, and worth the extra effort to find it, and price. So glad that Chewy.com can get it for me, it is a huge convenience. February 12, 2013
No Diarrhea so far!! My little guy has been having chronic diarrhea for about 2 months now. (8 1/2 months old) His vet prescribed him this food, and after 2 weeks he's been diarrhea free! I don't know if the food is the reason, but we're happy so far. August 13, 2014
Great puppy food! Our 8-month-old Golden Retriever was experiencing some digestive "issues." Our vet suggested switching her to Royal Canin and that solved everything! July 13, 2014
