Customer Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 150 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Royal Canin HP saved our dog. And he loves it! Our dear 8 year old standard poodle has a very pesky immune system and about 4 months ago he developed colitis secondary to a medication he was on for a blood disorder. He had extreme diarrhea and lost 14 lbs in 2 months. We were expecting that we would lose him, which broke our hearts. Enter Royal Canin hydrolyzed dry and canned. As we transitioned him over (from another vet Rx food) the frequency of stools dropped markedly, then they became firmer. And dear Toby started to put on weight (thank heaven!) He LOVES the stuff and we use the dry as treats for him (and our other 2 dogs like them, too). I truly believe that our fantastic vet and Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein food has saved his life. He has a sparkle back in his eyes and a bounce in his walk! We can't thank you enough! May 19, 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Tasty? Not really! I know my 4 yorkies need a hydrolized protein food for all their allergy problems. And I know & trust Royal Canin, but I feel as if they could have enhanced the flavor some how To make it a little more palatable for them. Not one of them really likes it. If just one chose not to eat it I would just think "Finicky Eater", with all 4 choosing to eat only every couple of days I have to think it either tastes or smells bad to them. I find myself trying to find ways to make them eat it!! Usually by adding some baked fish, which isn't a hydrolized protein! So I'm not doing them any favors!! It's so darn expensive I shouldn't have to do that. It's like bringing a McDonald's burger to a French restaurant!!! May 17, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by IBD Trial My vet, an internal medicine specialist, prescribed Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein for my dog that was just diagnosed with moderate to severe IBD. He is about 10 days on this diet and he seems a bit more comfortable, his appetite is holding and he is drinking normal amounts of water. He still has bouts of discomfort but overall I believe the food is helping. He is only on antacids and Omeprazole at this point. I withheld 1 star for the main ingredients, rice, chicken fat and soy, are not what I would consider ideal for dogs. Also, my vet said it would take 2 weeks to see significant results and where he seems improved, he still has discomfort. A big plus for this food is that my dog will eat it. He is a very picky eater and had been on a cooked diet before being offered this dry food. May 3, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product for dogs with food allergies My dog has food allergies, and this product keeps her from having problems. Since getting on this product, she has had no issues with itchiness that were driving her crazy. It is not cheap, but well worth the cost for a happy dog. May 20, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The search is over to find a perfect food for my pup! I have a Pitbull mix who suffers from undiagnosed allergies, but displays skin infections as well as digestive issues. He's had soft stools ever since he became mine, so I switched him from chicken based kibble to rabbit, then from rabbit to salmon (to help with the skin), none of which made a difference. Finally, my vet recommended I try a Hydrolyzed protein kibble and I couldn't be happier. Right away, his stool firmed up and since this this food is rich in omegas, it's good for his coat, even his dry skin has lessened. I am so happy I tried this food and that the search is over. If your dog has problems digesting proteins or food, please try this product. May 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keeping my dog alive My sweet Laila (boxer) has Ulcerative Colitis and SEVERE reactions to ANY proteins...chicken, beef..anything. If she eats anything other than vegetables or this dog food, she becomes very sick. She has been on this food for 5 years. If not for this food, she would have died. May 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Service and Price! Chewy is an excellent way to save money and time. Product is the same as our Vet but significantly cheaper and delivered to our door. May 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product I've been using this product for my dog who was have chronic ear infections. The vet recommended this food and we haven't had an ear infection over 2 years. I used to pick up the dog food at the vets office but this was becoming inconvenient so I now order through Chewy.com. You will need a prescription from the vet which I scanned and emailed to Chewy. The script is good for about 9 months so you won't need on for every order. The product arrived with 2-3 days from placing the order. April 24, 2016
