Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic & Antifungal Shampoo
Best shampoo I have found for dogs with allergies, & yeasty, itching skin
After 3 years of trying to figure out what was making my little Silky terrier's skin itch so bad, making the skin on her belly/groin area turn black, causing extreme itching, I discovered it goes hand in hand with allergies and internal yeast overgrowth. (Check out *Acanthosis Nigricans* on the web). Once you have identified the underlying cause, you can relieve your dog's symptoms, both internally and externally. This shampoo is excellent (the best i have tried, and I have tried a lot!) to help alleviate the external symptoms.
I accidentally discovered this shampoo a couple of years ago, & it worked, but then couldn't find it locally, & didn't have access to the internet, so tried a bucket load of regular shampoos. It only allowed her condition to worsen. This is the only shampoo that has given my dog relief! Save the expense & time & learn from my experience. It does take time, however. It does offer some immediate relief, but real relief comes after long term use, 2X/week, and letting it set on your dog for 10 minutes to work best. But over time it does help with the itching caused by allergies and/or yeast. My dog smelled like a corn chip. After the first use, she smelled good again (with other shampoos, she smelled like a corn chip right after bathing!). Bottom line is, at least for us, it gave my dog relief from her constant itching, scratching, chewing. Also, getting back to using this again after so long without, the skin is now slowly going back to its normal soft, velvety tan look & feel. Her itching and scratching is slowing noticeably down. I found out the hard way, if your dog suffers from environmental, contact, and/or food allergies, this shampoo really helps but you must also identify & eliminate the *causes* of the allergies. (at least for my dog, this worked)......And, once it is under control, you must continue using it on a regular maintenance basis so it doesn't get back out of hand. I found out the hard way. Once it does get out of hand, it takes a long time to relieve & get your dog back to normal.
Bottom line.....I highly recommend this shampoo. It smells good, and it works!

Itching Significantly Reduced!
My dog, a 50lb mixed breed (probably with shepherd, lab, and coonhound), started itching, and her hair on her legs was falling out. I bought this shampoo based on good reviews on another site. The results are impressive after a month of use. She is much, much better now. Although I have only been giving her weekly baths instead of the recommended twice a week, she no longer scratches continuously.
The product takes time to show true results. The first time I had used it, I noticed less scratching but still she seemed to have occasional itching. I worried that maybe the product wasn't effective enough. However, I saw others mentioning that it takes time, so I waited. They were right. It does work! My dog's coat is so soft and fluffy now. Given her oily skin, I had never seen her hair so fluffy. She smells nice, too. I love this product and will continue using it! Best of all, it's so affordable and safe.
(I don't like going to the vet because of all the medication they give to the dog. Not only is it expensive, but it cannot be healthy for your dog in the long run. I recently lost my beloved, 6-year old collie, who presumably was healthy at a checkup 6 months prior to his death. Even 10 minutes before his death, I was the one who kept telling the vet something was wrong. As someone who used to rely and have complete trust in vets, I came to realize that knowledge is not perfect and that I should take control of deciding what is best for my dog, especially of how much to vaccinate since it seems overvaccination is becoming a problem. Now, I try to use products that do not seem harsh on the dog first before running to the vet. I'm glad that this product has worked and that I didn't have to inject my dog with harsh chemicals.)

My chocolate lab has very sensitive skin. We think she is allergic to grass, but haven't paid for the expensive test to find out for sure. Used several different shampoos, all of them made her skin worse. She will break out in little red bumps, and greasy flaky yellow skin. Use this once a week and the red bumps and flaky skin has not returned. If we go too long between baths we see the red bumps start to come back. A bath and the next day, they are gone again. Smells better then some tar shampoos designed for humans.

Great cleaning, smells wonderful and helps with the itching
My basset hounds are always scratching...just typical skin issues with lower oil levels. We bought this in hopes alleviating some of the scratching. What I wasn't expecting was how well it cleans and rinses and the incredible feel of my dogs hair...they're more cuddly than ever. The itching, while maybe a little better, is still present though; however, they aren't forming welts so, that's better.
I would definitely recommend this shampoo.
