My cat is allergic to poultry and eggs. I see this has liver meal. Is it sourced from chicken or other poultry?
Answer by ChewyAug 13, 2020
While this supplement contains no egg-derivatives, it is formulated using 130 milligrams of chicken liver powder (0.13 grams) per chew.

9/2/21 I have been using for almost 9 months Front container says 125mg. I read the Back says 1.9% How much Salmon oil is in 1 Soft Chew Thanks
Answer by ChewySep 04, 2021
The front label states each soft chew contains 250 mg of Alaska Wild Salmon Oil: the entire soft chew is 1334 mg. On the side panel (Guaranteed Analysis) shows that each soft chew contains EPA 20 mg and DHA 25 mg. The percentage (1.5 and 1.9% respectively) advises the consumer what percent of the entire soft chew is made up of that particular nutrient. The entire soft chew is 1334 mg. One can then infer that the total Omega-3 content of one chew (total 3.4%) is 45mg, broken down to EPA 20 mg and DHA 25mg from 250 mg of Salmon Oil.

Are heavy metals include mercury removed?
Answer by ChewyOct 09, 2021
To be sure, 21st Century uses only human grade active ingredients in these soft chews. All raw materials are tested for heavy metals including mercury, in order to provide the purest high quality products for pets. For fish oils the standards are shown below. The U.S. Office of Seafood Fish and Fishery Products Hazard and Controls Guide list Methyl Mercury to be below a limit of 1.0ppm. The manufacturer's seafood hazard analysis has revealed that the processed fish oils used to manufacture these soft chews is in accordance with the United States FDA seafood HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) plan-regulation 21CFR123. This plan addresses issues such as contamination with heavy metals among other hazards inherent to seafood items. The oils are highly processed from edible fish that is below the 1.0ppm limit. These standards for human-grade ingredients are shown below and are met for Alaska Wild Salmon Oil as well.

It worked!

After my cat developed a bad case of dry skin and dandruff, I tried this product. Within a week her skin was back to normal. No more dandruff and a shiny coat! I am very pleased with the product, especially given that I initially tried another brand with a twice a day dosage that made no difference at all.

Cat eats them

Amazed to say my cat eats these and seems to quite like them, she usually turns her nose up at anything other than Temptations. They feel quite oily and gummy and don't stink, so I'm as confident as I can be without trying them myself that these treats are a good source of oils for my girl.

Salmon Oil Chews

So Chewy asked me to review this product. My cat didn't like it and it arrived crushed and open. I didn't ask for a refund, but I did write a negative review. Chewy read my review and just got back to me. They have given me a refund. Thank you Chewy. This kind of customer service is above and beyond. I really appreciate it. You've gained a loyal customer.

Kitty Approved

I purchased this product for my 7 year old female calico/tabby a few weeks ago to try and see if it would work to clear up her dry, flaky skin and fur. I tried a couple of other liquid products but the they were doing anything. After reading some good reviews on these chews, I decided to try them. I started giving these to my cat about 3 weeks ago. No more flaky skin and her fur is glowing! I just put it right in her food. She likes it. She thinks it's a treat.

Shinier fur

These are making our “rescue” cat’s fur shinier. She doesn’t like the taste so we crumble it up and bury it in her food.

Cat won't touch them

2 stars for 2 reasons. My cat is not exceptionally picky and LOVES seafood, and she won't touch these. They don't smell like fish oil, they smell like bad cheese. The other reason is, they are kinda big. She does like tiny pieces, so I went to break it in two and it crumbled instantly. So, not enough solidity for me. She won't touch her food if this is on it or in it. Still on the search for a skin and coat supplement disguised as a treat. Very disappointed.

Got rid of my cat's dandruff in a week!

This product is amazing. I have a black cat, so dandruff shows up really easily on him. My vet recommended I incorporate salmon oil into his diet to help, so I got these chews. Not only does my cat love them and think they are treats, they got rid of his dandruff and made his coat exceptionally shiny within a week of starting them! 10/10 reccomend

These do work

One of our cats is a tuxedo and was having MAJOR dandruff issues and it was extremely noticeable with her black fur. She ate these with no problem for the first week or two and I noticed a huge difference in the dandruff within 2 days. The dandruff has cleared up by 99% now. Then we had to add some prescriptions to her daily routine and now she thinks every treat I give her is a trick and she is not happy about it. We have another cat with hyperthyorid and his fur is constantly greasy even a day or two after a full bath. I decided to try giving them to him to see if they would help at all and I noticed a big difference within the first week. However, he has some problem teeth that I think will likely need to be removed at his upcoming dental appointment and I think the shape (triangle) is a little too bulky and pointy for him. For both cats, I can get them to eat it if I crumble it up and put it in their wet food or mix it in with another small treat. I did transfer these into a glass jar to prevent them from drying out quickly as the packaging is not air tight. The third cat doesn't need them for any skin/fur issues, but loves them just as they are. These do work for dandruff and greasy fur, if you can get your cat to eat them. I'd say they're worth trying and don't give up if they won't eat them straight out of the container. Try crumbling them up and mixing them with a small treat before you give up completely.

They Like It!

Both my girls like this special treat every morning and I'm hoping it will make their coats more shiny and less dry. Winter is hard on them as well as their humans. Have used it for about 2 weeks.

The wrong cat likes these

I initially bought these for my female cat because I noticed an excess amount of dander in her fur. Well she has no interest in even trying them. But the male cat is all about these chews, his skin and coat were fine, so I can not speak of their effectiveness.
