Feeding Instructions

Feed an Adult, 12 lb cat 1 can twice per day. Adjust as needed for your cat's age and activity level.

Transition Instructions

When switching your pet's diet, we recommend transitioning from the current diet to the new product over a 5-7 day period. Replace 15-20% of the current diet with the new product each day until they are fully transitioned. If you do not have any of your current formula to mix, reduce the amount of the new product fed for the first few days, feeding smaller more frequent meals and increase over time. As always, we also recommend checking with your veterinarian for the most accurate feeding recommendations for your pet. If your pet is more sensitive to change, please allow 10-14 days to fully transition onto the new formula.

    Cats love it

By DustiS on Oct 2, 2021

I would give this 5 stars, but the chunks are kind of big, and so if they were smaller, it would be nicer for my cats. Either way, they love every flavor in this variety pack, especially the Turkey & cheese one. They are super picky, and so I have found the dry indoor cat food, and the indoor wet food is often out of stock, so I rotate with this kind.

    9 lives cat food

By Binx on Aug 30, 2021

Sorry 9 lives my kitties wouldn't touch this stuff, so I fed it to the homeless kitties I have been feeding since the freeze we had in February! They would not even eat this stuff.... I'll donate it to a shelter?

    won’t buy again

    By gil55fl on May 31, 2021

Chewy along with all our local stores have had a problem the last few months keeping the foods I feed my 19 cats ( friskies wet and purina one dry) so I started looking for substitutes and thought I’d try the 9 lives which my mom fed her cats forever. I bought 2 cases and a 12 pack and none of my cats will eat it. Didn’t matter why flavor or texture they just flat out refuse this brand. Won’t buy again. I am glad to see chewy had my regular brands in stock this month.

    Ok wet cat food

    By Mom2MrDarcy on May 4, 2021

I got his pack for my feral cats. I feed them 2-3 cans a day (2 when it's nice out, 3 when it's cold, 4 only when it's frigid) so I can go through it pretty quickly. My indoor cat likes to get a few drops of gravy when I dish up the feral cats' wet food. (refuses to eat any canned meat, just the gravy) But these cans, the shreds especially, did not have a lot of gravy. And unless I warmed them up first (cans in a hot water bath), it's impossible to get extra gravy to drip out. Even with warmed food, it was still difficult. And the way the pop top part of the can is designed, it is hard to get the last bits out of the can. The shreds (and little bits of cheese) loved to stick to the side of the I got his pack for my feral cats. The shreds (and little bits of cheese) loved to stick to the side of the can, and at least one would try to hide under the lip. (I sometimes didn't see it till I went to rinse out the cans) As for whether the cats liked them or not, I don't think they were a very big hit. There are 12 (all fixed) in this colony. But with multiple feeders, they have lots of choices for food. They finish wet food, but some bits get left behind when they don't like it as much. Where as, the bowls get licked clean when they like it. Bits got left behind with this. And my cat would leave his little bits of gravy sit there for a couple hours before he went back to eat it. (I wouldn't notice till he went back to eat it. But he normally eats it all right away. He LOVES his little spoonful of gravy every night!) They seemed to like the one flavor that was chunks a little more than the 2 flavors that were shreds. It also had a little more gravy, and was easier to dish up, since the chunks didn't get stuck to the can like the shreds. … more

    horrible product

By catowner on May 12, 2021

I have three barn cats, usually feed Friskies canned but chewy was out of it so tried this stuff. I have raccoons that come around at night and clean up what cat food hasn't been eaten. My cats won't touch this stuff and neither did the raccoons? Total waste of money.

    9 Lives cat food

By Buster on May 3, 2021

The cat doesn’t seem to like this. Not sure if it’s the taste or texture. However, when I open the can I can tell it’s Turkey and I like that. I probably won’t buy it again but only because my cat won’t eat it. Others need to judge for themselves

    Lots of gravy

By DogFarm on Jun 18, 2021

Cats like it and that's most important. Cassandra, our youngest cat likes just the gravy but the other two love all of it.

    Cats don't like it.

By Dragonfly on Mar 26, 2021

Wanted to try something new. Used to buy 9 Lives a long, long, time ago. Not sold in local grocery store. So bought online. It barely has a smell, let alone an appetizing one. Both cats turned their noses up at all three flavors. Back Friskies and couple fancier brands that they do like.
