Disappointed

The mealworms were received quickly and packaged nicely. What was surprising was not only their tiny size (container was marked "small") compared to other sources where I have purchased from but there were many, many tiny black ants that were also in the container. Since some of the ants had made their way outside of the container during shipment, I cannot keep these mealworms in my refrigerator. I guess I will be feeding quickly before the ants find a home in my garage.

Worms to Go

So these guys are exactly as described - small mealworms. They come in a plastic, secure, container with air holes and have an egg carton to take cover under. I've put them into a big container to let them vibe and live before their eventual sacrifice to my p audax, but they're chill little dudes who enjoy veggies and being left to their own devices.

They were a hit!

I purchased these mealworms to add to my backyard bird feeding tray. They were shipped quickly, and arrived well packaged. After I worked out an acceptable bowl in which to serve them, I then waited to see which of my birds would go for them. My Yellow Throated Warblers absolutely love them.

How do I keep these alive for a number of weeks? Thanks.

You can keep the Mealworms under refrigeration or you can keep them at room temperature with wheat bran substrate. Refrigeration between 42-50 degrees will keep them dormant and stay the perfect size for 30 to 45 days. Room temperature they can stay in wheat bran substrate feed carrots or potatoes. Switch out the substrate when needed. They will grow when kept at room temperature.
