Activyl works by breaking the flea cycle—plus, fleas don't need to bite your cat to be killed! It's recommended that you treat your furbabies monthly for the optimal control and prevention of fleas, so Activyl makes it easy with their built-in easy applicator. This treatment even starts killing fleas within eight hours of application, eliminating them after 24.

  • Easy to apply topical treatment for your feline companion 8 weeks of age or older that is 2-9 pounds only, plus it’s water-resistant and waterproof.
  • Breaks the flea cycle, no biting required, plus the quick-drying treatment leave no noticeable odor or fragrance behind.

Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

FAQ

Where is this product sourced from?

We source all our products from manufacturer approved distributors or directly from the manufacturers. Chewy takes pride in ensuring that our furry friends’ wellbeing is always our top priority. We have worked hard to partner with all of the manufactures to deliver 100% authentic products

Should I bathe my pet before treatment?

Bathing your pet is not required. According to veterinary industry standards, your pet should not be allowed to swim or be shampooed within 24 hours after applying a spot-on product.

Can Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats be used on pets with itchy skin?

Activyl can be used in the management of pets with itchy skin due to flea bites—also known as flea allergy dermatitis or FAD.

Can I use Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats all year-round?

Fleas can be a year-round problem indoors and outdoors. Applying Activyl every four weeks ensures your dog and cat will be protected from fleas throughout the year.

How does Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats spread over my pet's body?

Activyl spreads in the lipid layer of your pet's skin.

Should Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats be used differently on long- and short-haired pets?

Activyl spreads throughout the skin and coat of your dog or your cat the same way in both long- and short-haired breeds. To provide the best care for your pet, just ensure that you select the correct size of Activyl for your dog or cat based on its weight and apply the product directly to the skin, not on top of the coat.

Do fleas need to bite for Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats to work?

Activyl remains on the surface of your pet. Fleas get exposed to Activyl when they jump onto a treated animal. It can enter the flea either by moving through their outer surface (called a cuticle) or if the flea happens to ingest some. Since Activyl is on the surface of the pet and not in the pet's bloodstream, fleas do not need to take a blood meal for Activyl to start working.

Why do I see more fleas after I have applied Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats or other spot-on products?

Fleas tend to hide away unless disturbed. When Activyl starts to work, fleas lose coordination and will sometime move to the coat's surface. This may make them easier to see. Please don't worry; these fleas will die soon.

Why can I still see fleas after I have treated my pet with Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats or other spot-on products?

The fleas you see on your pet are fleas that have newly jumped from the environment on your pet. Those fleas will die soon. It is important to take a three-pronged approach to treating fleas. This is because only a small percentage of the flea population is on your pet. Most of the flea population exists as immature stages (eggs, larvae and pupae) in your pet's surroundings. Activyl is active against both adult fleas on your pet as well as immature fleas in your pet's environment, but it takes some time to clean out the flea population in the house. To help speed this process up, you should clean your house thoroughly (for example, by washing your pet's bedding and thorough vacuuming your pet's favorite spots in the house) to help reduce the number of immature fleas present. If there is a serious infestation, it may take some time to control. But any fleas you see on your pet a few days to weeks after treatment probably represent re-infestation from fleas emerging from cocoons in the environment. Activyl lasts for 4 weeks and it is important to repeat treatment on time every month. At least 3 consecutive treatments are recommended for effective control of flea infestations on the pet and in the pet's environment, and continued treatment is needed to prevent your pet from bringing new fleas home.

Can my pet swim or be washed after I apply Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats?

Activyl has been tested to make sure it is not easily rinsed or washed off. However, Activyl must first be allowed to spread and dry on the skin. According to veterinary industry standards, you should not wash your pet or allow it to swim for 24 to 48 hours after application. Consult the product label8 and your veterinarian for more information.

Can I use Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats when my pet is on medication?

You should consult the product label and your veterinarian before applying any product if your pet is on medication.

Can I apply two different spot-on products?

Spot-on products are available for fleas and also for other parasites. Please consult your veterinarian for the most appropriate treatment for your pet.

Can I use Activyl on pets other than dogs and cats?

Activyl for Dogs is designed for use on dogs and Activyl for Cats is designed for use on cats. Please consult the product label and your veterinarian for advice on suitable treatment for other pets.

How frequently should Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats be applied?

One treatment of Activyl lasts for 4 weeks and it is important to repeat treatment on time. Year-round treatment is recommended for optimal treatment and control. Please consult the product label8 and your veterinarian for further information.

When should I start treating my pet for fleas?

Activyl for Dogs, Activyl for Cats and Activyl Tick Plus for Dogs only can be administered as early as 8 weeks of age. Dogs should weigh at least 4 lbs and cats should weigh at least 2 lbs. There are very few places in the world where there are no fleas. In warmer climates, fleas are present all year round, while in more temperate climates, fleas are present mainly from late spring through to late fall and even longer, thanks to central heating. To be on the safe side, Activyl should be applied all year-round to avoid giving flea populations a chance to build up on your pet and in your home. Consult your veterinarian about using Activyl on your pet and when to apply it.

How does Activyl for Dogs and Activyl for Cats work?

Indoxacarb, the active ingredient in Activyl, becomes fully insecticidally active after contact with flea enzymes. This is what makes Activyl unique.

This is the best flea medication, don't waste your money on other products!

    By 4catsandadog on Feb 4, 2021

I live in South Florida, have 4 cats and 1 dog, and have been struggling with a flea infestation for several months. I have tried the other more popular brands and nothing. I would come home and vaccuum, mop, brush all the animals for months, every day. It was exhausting! I put this medication on my animals 3 weeks ago and ahhh what a relief for everyone! That same night I started seeing dead fleas on the floor! I've never seen anything like it! It still amazes me. The medication is still working today after 3 weeks. I highly, highly recommend this product!

By FirePrincess on Feb 11, 2021

I used Advantage for ever then it quit working. The reviews looked good for this product so I tried it. It worked worse than the other. Two weeks after treatment, still no relief for my furbabies. Gee, what should I waste my money on next?

    Finally something that worked!

By Shannon on Oct 21, 2020

I adopted two kittens from a local shelter where they were treated with flea meds when rescued and didn't appear to have fleas for the first month or so and they are strictly indoor so I didn't worry too much about it. As a preventative at 12 weeks I treated them with frontline and fast forward a month and the fleas were worse! I used frontline for 2 treatments and the fleas were not letting up at all (the kittens were still indoor only, I was washing the fabrics and bedding in the house, vacuuming/cleaning everyday). My mom recommended Activyl and so far is has worked wonders! Not working

By GrittyKittyAintSoPretty on Oct 16, 2020

Treated three cats 14 days ago. All three still have fleas and the indoor/outdoor cat had a tick on her. The tick was large, had been on her a while. I had hoped for a new great product, but it's a dud. Waste of a good chunk of money.

It's only thing this year working

By Daisy on Aug 8, 2020

This is the only cat flea med that is working now. Past years, fleas adapting to all other flea meds and actually turned into super fleas. I've never ever seen like this. Just 1 comb swipe and 50 packed fleas..thousands on each cat. Flea meds, capguards needed to give just 2 days rest for rest. Those things are super fleas on steroids. Activyl the ONLY flea med helping now. Thanks to other reviews! Still some fleas, but this is huge infestion. So well worth it. Don't waste your money on frontline,advantage..fleas immune now to those meds. This works!!
