HAZARDS TO ANIMALS: Some caged birds are known to have sensitive respiratory systems (in particular Psittacines: parrots, budgerigar, etc.). Therefore, as a precaution, we recommend plugging in the diffuser in a different room. HAZARDS TO HUMANS: Do not plug-in the diffusers under shelves or behind doors, curtains or furniture. To function properly, the diffuser must not be obstructed in any way.
The pheromone released in Adaptil is a synthetic copy of the pheromone secreted by a mother dog after birth to provide reassurance to her puppies.
Research has demonstrated that the reassuring properties of the dog-appeasing pheromone are effective for dogs of all ages.
Yes, it is useful to start using Adaptil with your puppy as soon as he is adopted. Adaptil is clinically proven to help dogs adjust more quickly to their new homes and also helps them feel safe and secure to help increase their focus during training. This helps them develop into well-adjusted and well-behaved adult dogs.
Running low? Keep calm with the Adaptil Electric Diffuser Refill for Dogs.
I do not recommend. My coonhound has mild anxiety so I thought maybe this would help. It did NOT. After a few weeks, I noticed she stopped going in the 2 device containing rooms. So, I started moving the device around the house to test if it was the device. Sure enough, everywhere I moved it, she avoided that area. I removed the devices, and a few days later, she is now coming back to the bedroom again and back to laying in her favorite spots. This did not work for us even with a dog having mild anxiety; and, I feel bad that I deprived her of her favorite spots for a month while trying this.
Adaptil Calm Home Diffuser not working for my dog - or at least we're sure not noticing any difference. Had it for about 30 days with hopes that it would calm our puppy (10 mo. old) down and alleviate his separation anxiety, which is manifesting itself in destructive behavior. I stacked the diffuser with calming chews, both highly rated on Chewy, but am seeing NO results whatsoever. The diffuser light is on, so I know it is working, and the liquid is going down - but dog is still high-strung and suffering from just as much anxiety. I would give this ONE STAR, but am factoring in that (a) he's a puppy and (b) I put the diffuser where all evidence suggests he is spending most of his time (by his crate), but he may be spending evenings and other alone periods elsewhere in the house when not crated. The FELINE version worked well for the cats - they are much more chill and sociable. But this CANINE version is a total flop.
We have a mini long-haired Dachshund who is now nine months old. Our pup has a far more energy than expected with zoomies every night, restlessness and tough to calm down. The Adaptil difuser worked, within a day, a noticeable calming and much more manageable pup. I'm ordering the refill now.
Immediately after plugging this in, my dog (80 lb shepherd mix), laid down near it on the floor. He has been laying there, calmly, off and on for 5 days. He seems less anxious about separation and has had less accidents. I am hoping this will help with his fear of wind storms and thunder. He is still his usual playful barky self, just less anxious. We are getting refills on auto ship!
This is a hard thing to review. It arrived in good condition, it works in the mechanical sense - it diffuses. So I got what I paid for. But it just didnt work for my dogs separation anxiety. We put a diffuser on both levels of the house - 1 in the bedroom he sleeps in, and 1 in the living room he is in when we are gone. The bedroom one has been plugged in for a month. The living room one has been plugged in for 2 weeks. But it has not had any effect on his anxiety. We wont be repurchasing. My vet recommended that we try this so I have to assume it works for some dogs. Just no such luck for us.
Well we have had it plugged in for almost 2 weeks and it hasn’t made a difference with the blue heeler. He is still super jumpy and paces when pants when it’s going to rain. Will update if anything changes but so far it has not calmed him one bit.
I want to say it works , my dog is calmer while I'm gone just after starting using , but it started to get very hot after about 15 days and a small amount of smoke is coming out . I'm scared to leave it plugged in while I'm gone now .
I own a 1p0 year old Yorkie with severe anxiety. This collar and a Diffuser that I purchased has helped calm my baby. Glad I have found something g that really works.
I plugged it in. Followed the directions. It doesn’t work. My dog isn’t affect at all by it. I bought it to help her calm down when I’m not home.
Seems to work. When I dont have it plugged in my dog is agitated, he seems calmer and lays near the outlet when it is plugged in.
