Adaptil Electric Dog Diffuser, Starter Kit

My rescued dog has generalized anxiety and takes sertraline to help her function better (not being scared of the backyard and not reacting to other dogs). But she can still be high-strung at home. It's as though she doesn't trust that I love her and harasses me for attention especially when I am sitting on the couch. Her trainer recommended Adaptil and I have noticed that my dog has become more chill. When a stranger comes over, she initially barks and jumps (out of excitement, not aggression) but she is now able to calm down pretty quickly. She's also able to sit on the couch with me without harassing me. Package arrived in perfect condition. It's easy to use. We just adopted a dog who has serious separation anxiety. She's never been left home alone. Purchased this hoping it would help calm her. (We also bought baby cameras and keep an eye on her, increasing the time home alone by 5 minutes at a time.) This week was the first week that she's doing really well. She doesn't whine or pace and goes right to sleep. Unfortunately the diffuser has been empty for the week. I don't want to say that she's done better without it. There could be other variables that I'm missing. But, she is doing better without it.

We were not sure what to expect, but within less then 24 hrs, both our 3 yr old husky, and our 9 month old husky, were laying near the area of the room where the Adaptil was plugged in. They were much calmer, and our 3 yr old husky was already calm before, but this has somehow made him seem like he is calmer still. Since our 9 month old husky is still a puppy, she is still chewing on her toys and plays without laying down much...but when she is by herself she is soo much calmer in the room with the unit.

I'm not sure if they make something similar for cats and just sent the wrong thing in the right packaging... o_0 But the cats are calmer and the puppy is walking around amped up like he "needs to do something right now"! He never got like that in that area before plugging this in... O_0 I'll give it a little more time, but as for now, it's great for the cats/kittens.

Does a great job soothing my dog when I’m gone. Before I tried Adaptil she would bark and howl the entire time I was gone and now she doesn’t. My neighbors are very grateful.

I plug this in when I leave the house and my dog is in her crate. I haven’t videoed her while I’m gone so I’m not sure how much it helps, but it makes me feel better!

We also tried Storm Stress drops which did work really well, but this summer we were plagued by several storms a week and we hated giving it to her so often. My dogs had never met Axel, and they are fearful of larger dogs and tend to snap at them so I was preparing for the worst. I was amazed at what happened. Lucia walked right up to Axel sniffed him without snapping and then walked away and laid down. Stella, our other dog also walked right up to him, sort of play-bowed in front of him and then laid down right next to him. I couldn't believe it and then I remembered reading that the pheromones in the diffuser would also help when introducing dogs, and I am hear to say that it works! I thought with new years fireworks that this would help my dog stay calm, but sadly it didn't change anything he was still crying all night.

I purchased this diffuser for my 10 year old beagle. She gets extremely anxious with fireworks and thunder. It gets so bad we have to go into my small walk in closet and close the door. She still pants, paces and digs at the rug, but to a lesser extent. About 4 hours after I plugged it in the family room she was much calmer. The next round of fireworks still disturbed her , but much less panting and no pacing. I have a second in the bedroom. It has helped her go to sleep at night instead of staring out the window waiting for noise to start. Fireworks this year have gone on in our area every night from Memorial day through July 10th. Crazy! Great product, I recommend it to everyone.

Unfortunately this has had no effect on my dog. It’s been a few days and she is showing her anxious tendencies, and just coincidentally, even worse than normal. Wish it worked on her!
