It is advised to leave the collar around the dog’s neck at all times for one month, once the collar package is opened. For best results, the Adaptil Collar should be worn continuously.
To select the most accurate size calming collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there’s enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck for comfort.

I have to preface this with our dog is a great Pyrenees with EXTREME anxiety. Our trainer suggested we try this in an effort to lessen he issue a bit. I cannot see that there is ANY difference. He may be too far gone and it would work when he gets a bit better, but as of now, not worth it. Glad it's not expensive. Also using the chews with same result IF we can get him to take any.
I purchased this for one of my two Dane puppies that has more anxiety and experiences separation anxiety from his brother during puppy training classes. In combination with composure treats and at home modifications recommended by their trainer I really loved the product. It helped take the edge off. Even others agreed that they noticed a slight difference in his anxious behavior.
stressful event coming up, thought I'd try the collar. Unfortunately, before the event, dog met skunk at point blank range. The inner part of the collar separated from collar itself. The collar also absorbed a lot of skunk spray. Collar went to trash. Didn't go to event.
This collar did a good job of easing my dog's anxiety. She was calmer in the car and her separation anxiety was much better. The only downside to these collars is that they're a bit expensive and need to be replaced monthly, but if cost is no issue for you, they're great!
Easy to put on and adjust size. Remarkable improvement in less than 2 weeks but I'm also using a calming supplement (Zylkene) and behavior mods so not sure how much each contributes.
My doodle gets nervous with several people around and starts chewing/eating her toys obsessively. I definitely see this working to calm her, and the chewing is reduced, but not totally. I think i like the spray (onto a bandana) better, but still looking into a prescription drug to do the rest. It's definitely worth trying,
I adopted a 9 year old pit/terrier 2 months ago who has been very reactive to other dogs, cats and people walking by the home. After wearing this collar for just under 2 weeks she her recall has drastically improved. She is barking much less and isn't getting into manic barking patterns anymore. She was able to meet a dog at the park and play without any anxiety. Huge improvement. I'm using this concurrently with CBD, but didn't notice the improvements until the collar was introduced.
It has worked wonderfully for us, especially on visits to the dog park! My little rescue Chihuahua mix regularly cowered shaking and pressed against my ankle, her usual public demeanor. I put the Adaptil Calming Collar on about 2 hours prior to our visit the first day we had it. She magically forgot to be scared and was out meeting other dogs and investigating the small dog section of the park. I have kept the collar on per directions and will buy a new one each month until we no longer need it. Her behavior isn't perfectly calm and normal and is still very hesitant with humans, but such a huge change! She now has fun and runs around enjoying her companions and the freedom of being off leash. I am thrilled for her and so grateful. I think it is worth a try and appreciated reviews from others both successful and unsuccessful as it encouraged me to try this simplest step first.
Of course it is difficult to say if this really works or not. But.....it is easy, no apparent side effects. My dog does not mind wearing the collar. AND we have not had any eating of furniture since! So definitely worth a shot!
I cannot get this collar on my skiddish rescue dog. He is afraid of everything and I cannot get near him with thecollar. I am thinking about putting it on my own neck.
