It is advised to leave the collar around the dog’s neck at all times for one month, once the collar package is opened. For best results, the Adaptil Collar should be worn continuously.
To select the most accurate size calming collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there’s enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck for comfort.

We have tried everything for our girl to calm down a little, we went with prescription meds and also CBD thru the vets office but nothing has worked and only because she has a very sensitive stomach and was getting sick from all. We tried the collar and are happy with it. We had family over for Thanksgiving and they were noticing a difference with her. She still does not like little dogs or chipmunks, but this has calmed her down with different sounds and with people also. We tried it for 1 month ad we have decided to continue. She seems much happier and loving
We bought this after our 15 year old Samoyed began having Canine Cognitive issues which caused extreme anxiety during normal daily activities. Coupled with our vet suggesting Melatonin 2-3 times a day this collar added a measure of calming that seemed to decrease her anxiety quite a bit more. We had previously used Adaptil Travel spray as she was quite anxious when traveling in our motorhome and it had helped for those instances as well. She is doing much better and we feel the collar did help. Each pet is different, but it may be worth while to try this item for yours.
My dog has severe separation anxiety as he grows older. I had tried various forms of CBD products with no noticeable effect. A thunder shirt helped some, but my vet suggested this collar as she has had some success with it. It has helped a lot. I can leave the house without my dog whimpering, and although he gets excited when I pull my car into the driveway, he calms back down quickly. Definitely worth a try.
I can tell when the Adaptil collar is wearing off as Gil is more likely to bark out of the living room window and at dogs when we are on walks. He is just a chill-er dog with Adaptil.
The collar did nothing to diminish my dog’s anxiety. My dog has thrown up three times in the past week since wearing the collar - this is not normal at all. I would NEVER purchase this again.
This was recommended by my vet but I really don’t see a difference. Glad I didn’t do subscription. May work for someone else’s fur baby. But I was disappointed
Used Feliway with cats. Tried this in combo while working through some anxiety and it made my furry kid's fur thin/ fall out around neck. Was not tight, same as reg coller. She itched everyday with it on! Not ok!
I bought this to help with my Boxers separation anxiety. It did nothing for her anxiety and I used it with a calming spray. I will say it didn't bother her at all having another collar on but there was no change in her anxiety sadly.
I have a greyhound who is afraid of any noise. I put the Adaptil collar on him, took him for a walk and a car backfired. Normally he would try to bolt for home, but this time he just continued walking as if he heard nothing. the last thunderstorm found him a little nervous but he did't try to hide in our powder room (where he doesn't fit!). I recommended the collar to a friend who had a dog that barked all the time when she was not home and he is now a calm, quiet dog.
There is only a series of drawings showing how to use the Adaptil collar, however, they don't provide enough detail so the collar is useless.
