Just in case...
I like to have a bag of hydrolyzed protein food on hand in case puppies have to be weaned before their saliva contains the digestive enzymes to manage whole proteins. Really great to have a non-prescription option.
Dogs won't eat this awful product!
This is the worst product I've wasted $$ on, making the mistake of buying 2 packages, trusting chewy to have reliable products. It's disgusting and dogs won't eat it.
Hello everyone! My 3lb Chihuahua has IBD and Food Sensitives. She suffered lots of G.I. issues for a long time! Finally found a great Veterinary Internist that put her on meds . He recommended a Hydrolyzed diet and I picked this one to try. She not only loves it! But it has helped her so , so much!!! A great diet! It took a couple times of making it to get it to the consistency that my dog likes. But a great food by far!!
My dog wouldn't eat it
While the ingredients looked good & I was excited to try it , Munchkin wouldn't touch it (and she eats EVERYTHING) As an alternative I ordered FirstMate Small Bites Chicken Meal with Blueberries Formula Limited Ingredient Diet Grain-Free Dry Dog Food. She LOVES the stuff & it doesn't contain peas like she's allergic to. My concern was that she doesn't have many teeth so dehydrated foods are safer. The FirstMate kibbles for small breeds are So small she eats them with no problem.
not worth it
item not worth it used for a week didn't help ay all wasn't worth the money I used a different kind of dog seems to be helping
High-Tech Mashed Potatoes
This is a dehydrated food that looks a lot like mashed potatoes -- which it sort of is, since potatoes are the carbohydrate. Other than spuds, canola oil, and hydrolyzed soy, most of the rest is vitamins and minerals. In other words, there is almost NOTHING that ANYONE could be allergic / sensitive to. I bought it for one dog with IBD, but ended up using it to address other problems as well. This works well for dogs who won't drink enough or are prone to dehydration, because the powder will suck up a huge amount of water. The rehydration instructions call for a 1:1 ratio, but I've gone as far as 3:1, water to food. As a result, it also turned out to be ideal for my dog with megaesophagus, since you can add enough water to make a nice slurry. All of my dogs (much to my surprise) like this stuff, right down to licking the bowl clean. The downside, of course, is that it's pricey; but I'm not complaining. Somebody went to a lot of work to create something with so few ingredients that is apparently still quite tasty.
