Adequan is an FDA-approved injectable medication prescribed for the treatment of equine non-infectious degenerative joint disease (DJD), specifically in the carpal and hock joints (the equivalent of the ankle bone in humans). DJD can cause joint pain and inflammation, which can often lead to horse lameness. Lameness occurs when the horse overcompensates for the affected area, resulting in abnormal movements. Adequan can help reduce the damaging process of DJD, help reverse the loss of cartilage and encourage healthy joint function and associated lameness.
UsesAdequan (polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) is recommended for the intramuscular treatment of non-infectious degenerative and/or traumatic joint dysfunction and associated lameness of the carpal and hock joints in horses.
Possible Side EffectsThere are no known contraindications to the use of intramuscular Polysulfated Glycosaminoglycan.
Drug & Food InteractionsTalk to your veterinarian about any other drugs your horse is taking before starting this medication.
Precautions
Studies have not been conducted to establish safety in breeding horses. Do not use in animals intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Read the entire label before purchasing
By Hudson on Jan 2, 2021
The product is great however, I did not realize that if you do not use it within 28 days it recommends to discard. Well I still have half a bottle so I lost 400.00 dollars or at least half of that cause I did use half a bottle. Next time I will order the 5mg/ml bottles. It would be nice if the representative taking the order was more familiar with the product and would mention this before purchasing. The Adequan it's self is great!

Has helped my lab
By Charlie on Jan 7, 2021
I have been giving my 12 year old lab injections twice a week for the past month. He definitely has more mobility in his hips. This is not a miracle drug but it has helped my dog.

Adequan works, but Chewy fails to deliver.
By Sandman on Apr 6, 2020
My cat has symptoms of arthritis and Adequan is the only medicine out of the many that has actually worked. I sent Chewy the prescription from my vet, and it was declined. I spoke with 2 separate representatives on different days and both said the 'Chewy Vets' won't allow it. What a shame!

Adequan for my cat
By Doug on Feb 24, 2020
I've been giving Adequan to my cat (15 years old) for arthritis for a few years now. The dose is .2 ml given once a week. Her improvement is noticeable within about 18-24 hours. Great stuff. I just wish Chewy wouldn't keep running out.

Hands down, the best!
By Ashley on Jan 9, 2020
I have a horse who's starting to get arthritis as he's aging and this was a total game changer for him! I felt a difference in his performance within 3 doses. According to Adequan you can either use this monthly or use the loading dose every 6 months. I have been using this every 6 months and it's been working just fine. This was the best thing my vet could have recommended to me!

Life saver for my dog
By Maligator on Oct 18, 2019
I use this product on my dog. She gets monthly injections after having hip surgery. This completely stopped her carpal lick sores and helps her go on walks again. My dog can even run and chase tennis balls with Adequan put into her health care routine. I tried stopping Adequan to see if I noticed a difference and instantly saw her slow down.

Approved by my vet to use on my senior lab/border collie mix
By SevenCentCricket on Sep 5, 2019
I use this on my 14 year old lab/border collie mix. She has pretty severe arthritis, I'm only three shots in to the initial dose stacking phase and I'm positive she's already getting a little relief. It doesn't take her quite as long to get up from laying down and she seems a little more hyper than usual. I can't wait to see how she feels when she gets a few more doses in her over the next few couple weeks.

100% Satisfied
By Brittany on Jul 23, 2019
My purchase of Adequan from Chewy went smoothly, and arrived quickly after the veterinarian signed the prescription. Adequan worked as it should for my horse, and now he's back to his old self again and is feeling great! It was terribly difficult to find this product anywhere else, but thanks to Chewy, I was able to get my horse the joint support he needs. Thanks Chewy!
