Instructions

For Dogs

Cover animal's eyes with a hand. Do not spray directly on mouth, nose, or eyes. Spray head, ears, and chest until damp. With fingertips, rub into face and around mouth, nose, and eyes. Then spray from neck to tail, finishing legs last. For best penetration of spray to skin and on heavy-coated animals, direct spray against the natural lay of the hair, spraying the ruffled hair directly behind your hand. Make sure the spray thoroughly wets ticks. When used on miniature or toy breeds of dogs, towel-dry the animal after ½ hour if not totally dry. Avoid contact with genitalia. Repeat as required, but not more often than once every 7 days (1 week).

For Puppies Over 6 Months

Wrap the animal in a towel that has been sprayed lightly with this product. Leave eyes, nose, and mouth exposed. Put some spray on the finger and gently rub around eyes, nose, and mouth area. Keep animal wrapped for 5-10 minutes. Fleas may then be removed from the coat by picking or combing. For best results, all dogs should be treated with a similar flea control product such as Advantage Treatment Spray for Dogs to prevent reinfestation. Do not spray directly on puppies. Avoid contact with genitalia. Repeat as required, but not more often than once every 14 days (2 weeks).

  • Fast, but fleeting, way to temporarily flush out fleas

    By on Top 100 Contributor

This spray is easy to apply and dries quickly but has quite a harsh smell so is best used outside or in a very well ventilated space (I'm a bit wary about using it at all, but we're getting desperate about the flea situation). The product starts working immediately to flush fleas out of hiding, but they tend to jump off onto the bed or wherever our dogs take refuge to dry/sulk and I haven't "seen" any die from it so a flea comb is handy to catch and kill them at this point (obviously I mean the fleas, not our dogs!). Our three shorthair dachshunds hate the hiss spray and application process. The pyrethrin smell lingers on their coats for a day or so. The product definitely helps but doesn't seem to repel fleas from our boys or last a full week. One day after spraying, we still find and pull off live fleas. We use this Advantage spray weekly in conjunction with Virbac knockout house spray, a daily flea comb, monthly prescription of Sentinel Spectrum, and nitenpyrem (Capstar/Capguard) tablets as needed. I'm doubting any product can beat the fleas here in TX. The monthly topical treatments don't work for us either. Roll on winter! … more

  • Great for the Price

Our dogs have had ongoing flea problems. We buy them the colors but they just never seem to last, so it gets expensive to repurchase. We have used this product once and its been at least a few weeks since we have seen a flea. They seemed to react just fine to it-we have a Pit mix and Blue Lacy mix.

  • Works great for small dogs!

    By on

I have a chihuahua and a chorkie. With the mild winter we had in 2016-2017 the fleas were relentless this year. Though they never got super bad on my girls since they stay inside mostly they were still a problem. This is a wonderful product to use on small dogs and cats! No need to buy the super expensive flea treatments. To completely get rid of them I sprayed them once a week for a month then just monthly after that. My chorkie has longer hair so it took a little longer to be 100% flea free. Where as my 5 lb chihuahua was free after just one spray. After just a day I didn't see any more fleas on them! Highly recommended for the little ones!! One bottle goes a long way!

  • Great 2nd Preventive

    By on

I live in the Northeast and ticks are a real problem this year. Our GSD is on a monthly flea and tick topical preventive year round. After one trip to our favorite local park in May this year, we pulled 15 ticks off of him. He's never had a tick on him before. Not wanting to give up our enjoyable walks in the park for the whole summer, I decided to give this spray a try as a 2nd line of defense. We spray mainly on his feet, legs, and belly, then cover his face with our hand and just do a quick sweeping motion to get the rest of his body. We have yet to find another tick on him since using this spray! Just as a word of caution. • Helpful product

    By on

This product works really well on my two small dogs. My chi-weinie is allergic to fleas and my chihuahua's fur it so thick, fleas love to hide in it but this spray took care of all fleas on both dogs. The downside is the smell. You should only use this product outside so take your dog in the backyard before you spray them down. It dries faster than water once you're all done (which is nice) and doesn't leave any heavy chemical smell. I HATE having to use chemicals but have tried natural and homeopathic flea remedies (yes, I've also tried using Dawn soap) but nothing was keeping the fleas off. This product works well.

  • Seems to be working

    By on

I bought this product especially for tick control....never had fleas. I have been spraying my dogs once a week for three weeks now, and have not found any embedded ticks...did find one crawling on the dogs coat.....but slowly. I live in the NE were deer ticks are a real problem. I hope this product continues to keep the dogs tick free. I do not want to deal with treating lyme disease again in the dogs. I guess time will tell.
