Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Why Choose Advantage II?

The first active ingredient kills adult fleas by targeting their nervous system, while the second works as an insect growth regulator that kills flea eggs and larvae.

One convenient application of Advantage II cat flea treatment keeps working for 1 month. If your cat still has fleas after the 1 month, we'd recommend treatment for another month until the fleas are gone.

Not effective

We live in VA and our long-haired indoor cat got fleas. She was definitely impacted by this topical because she hid under the bed and looked drugged out for several hours after application. But, sadly, upon waking, she went right back to biting and scratching constantly. We did not observe any change or decrease in either the scratching or number of fleas we found over the course of the month. Not even a respite for a few days. The most effective thing we've used so far is diatomaceous earth (food grade). It's dusty in our house, but we've found some peace at least.

IMO far better than the collar

We care for rescue animals and cats are our focus. We are getting a lot of "hoarder" house cats being surrendered, most coming into care with chewing lice mange. This topical treatment is more expensive than the 8 month collar but in our experience, the collar does nothing to help rid, or even protect healthy cats from getting the chewing lice. We have to use this topical, as ordered by our Veterinarian, 2 a month ratherthan the suggested once a month to help rid the cats of the lice but it does work in conjunction with weekly shampoo for cat lice. The healthy cats, get the once a month treatment to stay lice free even though we keep the healthy separated from the quarantined. Lice live in clothing and humans and we do everything to be safe but... This topical works?

STEP #2 IN MY 3-STEP GUARANTEE TO GET RID OF FLEAS!!! Read review!

A few years ago, I had a HORRIBLE infestation. Here's what got the problem SOLVED after trying numerous products and being unsuccessful. I've always known about Capstar and have sworn by it, it's definitely a necessity. I've tried all the flea medications out there and if you can't afford the expensive ones, this is the BEST affordable one out there! STEP #1: CAPSTAR (pill) is good for killing the LIVE fleas on your pets. They'll bite them excessively and all be dead within an hour! It's kind of amazing (and sad) to watch happen. Your pet will be going bonkers as it's happening...but then to see them rest without biting- it's worth it. I personally love this product and use it first before applying the topical flea treatment. You HAVE to follow up if you're seeing fleas. You got the live ones on their body with this...but that doesn't stop them from getting back onto your pet from the carpet, areas where they lay, or once they hatch. STEP #2: Advantage II is a good topical treatment that kills both flea & tick. This includes adult fleas, flea larvae and flea eggs as well... (most topicals don't get larvae/eggs, just adult fleas). Capstar and Advantage II go hand in hand. Capstar kills all the LIVE fleas on their body, then you apply the Advantage II, that prevents them from getting back on their body! Capstar is safe to give daily, but I've never needed to give it more than once- twice when it was a horrible infestation I did it 2 days in a row just to make sure they were all gone. Now what about the carpet/pet areas?! (continue reading!) STEP #3: RAID Flea Carpet & Room Spray (Purple Can). This stuff is AMAZING as a spray for the carpet, or you can even get the foggers if you want to bomb the house. It's really not necessary, this stuff works so good. The final step after I've done the Capstar and Advantage II...I vacuum REALLY GOOD, then spray each room that has carpet/they go in, with this RAID Flea Carpet & Room Spray. Again, it's the only thing that worked for me when we had an OUT OF CONTROL, fleas biting our ankles every time our feet hit the ground, issue. ONE TIME using this and they were GONE. I really hope this review helps someone, because I spent HOURS reading and reading and reading trying to find the perfect solution. THIS IS IT!!! I'm going to put it under each product I've mentioned. Good luck!

Prevented an infestation

I had found flea dirt on my white sheets when I brought home my new foster cat. After finding a handful of live fleas on him, I administered Advantage II on him and continued to comb him twice a day. Managed to find 2 more dying fleas in the next 2 days after that and no more flea dirt. I'm convinced that timely administration of this treatment prevented what could have been a flea infestation that would have been a huge headache.

vet recommend this product to me

Works just fine. Because of how flea cycles work you need to be consistent with this product (or any flea product) to ensure that it is working properly. It can sometimes take years to completely get rid of fleas in the house. You can’t use flea products one time or every once in a while and expect them to work. Also if you have strictly indoor cats, but have dogs, the fleas will will still come inside on the dogs even if they are on flea and tick medication.

Terrible Product

I have used this multiple times over the last year in hopes that one attempt will work. My cats have suffered with fleas since they were kittens (they are almost 3) and we have tried Advantage multiple times with no luck. This has also been done in conjunction with cleaning and fumigating the whole house, so there is nothing to blame but this falsely-advertised product.

works if you catch them early

been using for years with good results. it ONLY works if you use it as a preventative or if you can catch the very beginning stages of fleas (like seeing only 3 fleas early).

Best flea treatment I've ever used!!!

I've tried so many other spot treatments and this one is by far the best!! I put it on my cat and by the next morning I noticed a HUGE difference in her!! She was much much calmer and she wasn't scratching or licking at all!! I will definitely be using this one on her every month!

Moofy and Freaky like Advantage II

It always works for us. It is quick and easy to order and get your meds or flea treatments within just a few days. For flea treatments it is easier than searching through all of the stores in town and finding that they may or may not have it in stock.
