Love the look of these and I ordered 3 but upon unboxing I noticed they stain smell is very very strong. I've left the box open for a week or so to help get rid of thr smell but it hasn't. Also one of the bottom pans which is to help keep water in if it spills, is broken. Honestly had higher hopes for these boxes, the smell will prevent me from using it as I had intended.
The enclosure is wonderful for my Russian tortoise. It is not nearly big enough for a full-grown or nearly full-grown male (he's about 10cmx10cm), so I am getting a second. The instructions for combining two enclosures are clear. You do have to put some care into assembly the enclosure since you are mounting screws to unmarked wood panels, but I found this to be pretty easy. I do recommend having a hand drill nearby. The Garden State Tortoise review points out that you're not really supposed to use a drill, but screwing in everything by hand took me a long time. They did gently use a small hand drill so I think I will too for the next one. My one qualm with this product is that the packaging is not really suitable for a product this delicate. The final enclosure is sturdy, but the individual wood panels can break fairly easily if not handled correctly. Mine came with a mostly cosmetic defect that I can correct with wood glue, but I worry that the next one I order could easily come with some fully broken panels.
Although it does what it's intended to do, my products came in with scratches all over it and no instructions. I relied on the picture in order to put it together. Other than that it's a good product but pricey for what you get.
Fast shipping, easy to put together. Was looking for something to put baby chicks in. Works perfect. Highly recommend.
Repeatedly, I've left an honest review on this product and you deceive other buyers by NOT posting it. Just so wrong.
I bought one of these tortoise houses earlier this year for brooding the ducklings I hatch. I have used all sorts of DIY brooder buckets the past few years, but I never could make the perfect combination of lid security from my cats and dogs, for a secure way to hang the heat lamp, and for a leak-proof floor for very, very messy ducklings. This tortoise house is perfect! I use puppy training pads under the bedding for the ducklings to make it easier to roll up the messy bedding but then the box is easily wiped out. I am now putting chicks in it. I just ordered a second house so I can hatch both ducklings and chicks at the same time and keep them separate. Might be ordering a third soon to get ready for hatching goslings next spring. Thank you Chewy!
We are very pleased with our turtle's outdoor playpen. The design is so nice. We put a water option on one side and a bedding on the other. It's great to provide our little buddy with an additional enrichment. Snappy loves it!
Mr Herman my Russian is love it so far plenty of room for him. Was simple to build and seems pretty sturdy. Paint was a little patchy but no too bad
Love this item! Fairly easy to assemble, good quality. I bought 2 and connected them for 6ft of space my turtle seems pleased with her upgrade. Smells like fresh cut cedar. I shop a lot online and this was one of my most satisfying purchases.
I Love it! Easy to put together. Used a screw driver. Easy peasy. This will be my hatchling enclosure while I build a custom tort house. Mine came in perfect condition. The smell isn’t bad, I kind of liked it as it smelled like damp pine or cedar lol it went away after a few hours. Torts love it!
