We work closely with production partners to create and develop our own recipes and oversee production to ensure it adheres to our quality standards. American Journey's dog food is produced in our partner facilities, located in California.
Does this recipe help with small dog urinary tract and support the ph in the urine?

The American Journey food isn't specifically made for urinary tract health but it does have Cranberries and Chicory root which helps with urinary issues.
Does this food contain peas?

This formula does contain peas.
On the front of the bag says no poultry by-product meal. Then on the back, the 2nd ingredient is Chicken Meal. Can you please explain the difference?

The Chicken meal would originate specifically from chicken, and it does not include by-products as defined by AAFCO. Poultry by-product meal, which is not used in this case, can include multiple species of fowl, and also could/would include heads, feet, and entrails.

Good change of food

My dog loved it!! I decided to change my dogs food since she's had kind of a sensitive tummy. Took her to vet and prescribed a Hill's Science diet food which I've been meaning change ever since I adopted her. I did my research and came across this food and decided to buy a small bag for her to try it. Let me tell you!! The smell once I opened the bag, smells so much better than her before food. She immediately was interested and gave her a bit to start transitioning her and she loved it!!! She even got excited when I feed it to her for dinner which has never happened. So I really do recommend it!

3+ years customer

This is the only food my sensitive spaniel can eat! We’ve tried others that were a little cheaper, and they would cause major tummy issues or they would cause her hair to fall out. This is the only food that hasn’t done that! She’s eaten it for three years, going on four years. Two years ago my mom also switched her pittie mix to this food after seeing how much my pup loved it. And I love the ingredients!

Great Choice!

My dog is very finicky eater - don’t know how or why -she was a ‘street rescue’ so she should eat anything lol! However, she tends to like this dry dog food the best!

Good dog food

American Journey is an excellent dry dog food at a reasonable price. My two year old GSD has been on this brand since a puppy. Usually he eats the Beef&Rice but a several months shortage had me switch to Chicken&Rice and he has done well on it. Now am switching him back to the Beef as it is available again. I usually mix about half a can of the American Journey (either beef or chicken) in with his twice daily feeding. He likes this food and no problems with these two flavors. I would add I like this is Chewys own brand and made in USA. Also that Chewy has wonderful customer service for any questions or problems with orders both by email and phone.

Our go-to food

After the hubbub about grain- free food being linked to heart problems, I did a deep dive into healthy alternatives. This food has been great for my lab since then for the past four years. It is reasonably priced, too. When occasionally it has not been as available lately, we tried the beef version and it seems just as good.

Excellent food. Hard to find dog food with grain.

This dry dog food is an excellent product. It is difficult to find a dry dog food that adult dogs can eat that contain grain. My dog’s cardiologist recommends feeding dog dry food that contains grain as it is better for my Labrador’s heart. This food is easily digested and the dogs like the taste. It also comes in different protein varieties.

American Journey Active Life Formula Chicken base.

My usual dry dog food which I had been feeding for many years suddenly became unavailable. I tried another form of the same dog food but the marble sized pieces were just too big and "puffy" Chewy suggested American Journey as a similar chicken based food so I ordered some. I have only been feeding it for a short time but the size is perfect and the dogs love it. I will reorder this food and recommend it.

Good Brand

My dogs did enjoy the dry dog food most of the time but there will be times when I would have to add some food topping or wet foods in order for them to eat it. Overall my dogs enjoy this brand, this is one of their favorites, I would say #4 in their top brands.

Still going strong

We started our pup on American Journey grain-free, but when we spoke to our vet, we decided a grain formula would be best! We even “upgraded” to a more expensive brand, but that gave our pup the worst chronic tummy issues. After a long process and multiple visits to the vet, we settled back with American Journey’s Active Life formula. We haven’t had any tummy issues since, and our dog loves the kibble!

Great food, bad packaging

Our dogs love this food, but the last 2 times I've ordered it, the package has been split open and the food is all over the box. I will try again, but if the next package is also broke open, I will be going to a different dog food.
