Should be called Over Baked, not Soft Baked

What you see in the picture of the item on the website is what these should look like. If they're "SOFT BAKED" they're great, and they're a light golden-brown color. However, the treats in the last package I purchased were extremely OVER BAKED to the point they practically resembled lumps of coal. This product contains potatoes. When potatoes are overbaked to the point of turning black, Acrylamide levels increase. Acrylamide is a cancer-causing chemical. In recent animal studies on acrylamide, rats and mice fed high levels of the substance in their drinking water were found by researchers to be at increased risk for several types of cancer. So, burnt treats should never be fed to your dog. Needless to say, the bag of over baked treats went straight in the trash! I would give these a 5-star rating if quality control did their job better and made sure these were not burnt black. This is also happening with the Turkey Soft Baked treats as well. I've attached a picture of what these should look like and what my last purchase looked like. The lighter color treat is from the bag I just finished. The ones that look like lumps of coal are from the bag I just purchased.

My dogs love these

I've tried the other flavors of this treat but this is the first time I got the beef flavor and my dogs love them. These are softer than the other flavors so they break up easily if you want to give a half piece or smaller.

Crumbles easily

I ordered a bag of the beef flavor and the peanut butter. Mostly it was just a bag of crumbles in both bags with about 3 treats still intact. They made a mess when I passed the intact treats out bc they just crumbled everywhere. Will not be purchasing again. They seem dry and not like I would expect a soft treat.

Beef Recipe but with chicken fat

My dogs loved these but when they started having an allergic reaction and getting hot spots and losing hair I was so confused. I’m very careful with their food and treats and I completely missed the chicken fat listed in these. Pretty bummed to find it in a beef forward treat especially when so many dogs have chicken allergies.

Best training treats!

My dog has low food drive and finding a treat of high value for him to work for has been a challenge. Finding these treats was a game changer. He ADORES these and will give me full attention and start salivating heavily when he knows these are coming out, no matter what is happening around us. I usually buy multiple bags on each Chewy order and am so sad to see all the American Journey soft baked treats are out of stock. I really hope they are back in stock soon since they are the only treat I have found that really works for my dog.

Love these

Cami Jo loves these treats, she’s not too keen on the turkey flavor, as she prefers beef and chicken for everything.
