meh
the dogs (3 shelties) liked the taste, at first. i always mix less expensive food with an very expensive royal canin & tried this because of the high protein content. they now pick around the american journey and their poops are HUGE compaired with the previous formula of blue buffalo. i know they aren't getting the full benefit of the ingredients. i am going back the b.b. but will finish this bag. the ingredients listed are decent so i will recommend even with the previous gripes.
Amazing dog food!
This food is absolutely awesome - my do just "woofs" it down; especially when I mix it with some bone broth!
Cost Too Much
My dog's breeder recommended this brand, so we've purchased it from chewy for almost six years. The price has increased so much this year, that we are searching for a new brand. It was always expensive, but a near $10 per bag increase is too much for me.
American journey lamb.
We usually order American journey beef but it was out of stock. Ordered lamb instead. Gave Axel runny poop. Now that beef is back in stock, I ordered that. Probably going to dispose of the lamb flavor when the beef comes. The lamb flavor is not for my dog.
Dos love this
We switched over to American Journey from another dog food. We have 3 dogs all three love this food. We switched because our youngest dog had very soft poop and started getting bald spots where he was itching. Since switching the dog's bowls are never full because they eat all of it. The bald spots are disappearing, and hair is growing back, and the dog's poop is perfect! So glad we switched.
Formula Change, Gastro Issues
I was buying this food for years, and my dog loved it. In the last few months the food changed in appearance, and a slew of gastrointestinal issues and bouts of diarrhea starting happening with my dog for months. After an emergency vet bill and bloodwork that showed no issues, I changed my dogs food and the issue was immediately resolved. I fed her this food after a month as it was at my mom's to use up, and her stool immediately loosened and changed the color it was when she was having issues. Went back to the normal food, issue resolved. This is extremely disappointing.
Food quality problem?
I have been purchasing this brand for the last 8 years. Never had any issues with the quality until the last 2 orders. The formula must have changed, and the price went up. The color of the food is very light, and my dog isn't excited about eating anymore of this food. I can't try it myself so I am left with one decision, do not purchase anymore. I have noticed no response from Chewy or American Journey about this issue. It's was never the cheapest brand, but I had put my trust in this brand. Maybe Chewy is not the way to go for food anymore, customer service should be a priority for them.
Dogs are Getting Sick Now
I intentionally chcked the newest reviews this morning because something is wrong with this food within the last two months. We have used it for years, but the last couple of shipments have left our pups vomiting in bed and having explosive diarhhea all over the house. They used to look forward to their meals, but no the food just sits there untouched.
