Some cats need more time and encouragement before they start enjoying a new food, especially if they’ve been eating dry food only, or a wet food with artificial flavors, corn, wheat or soy. If your cat doesn’t go for American Journey at first, don’t worry as this is totally normal. A little patience goes a long way. Aside from following the recommended transition instructions, here are some tips to help ensure a smooth transition:
... it might please your feline friend. Due to Ollie's age and various physical ailments, this pate that he once loved is no longer something he will gobble up. I have to admit it's a bit dry so I have taken to adding water into it for him. This American Journey would've worked for him maybe about 3 years ago. Now that he's developed a picky palate, this flavor is something he can take it or leave it. Ollie does best with American Journey Chicken Senior Pate and that is what I will stick to in the future. It's a great balanced menu for cats, just not mine and at this time. 1 star deducted for the dryness.
I've been using this brand for a few years and used to love it. My cats are getting older and were doing very well on this food. Unfortunately the last two batches have had issues, this batch being the worst. Several cans have been only half full or even less and one was discolored and smelled off. I'll probably be switching brands soon.
I switched to American Journey after another cat food brand started having quality and supply issues. She has a sensitive stomach and tolerated this well. Unfortunately this seems to have gone downhill as well. My last order most of the cans are a watery soup that my cat won't touch. Can't blame her, it looks horrible. Some cans are better than others, most of it's going in the garbage. Time to look for another brand again...
This is more moist than before when I last bought the large cans. The cats like it and don't have a problem with eating it. My case was not super soupy like recent reviews say it is, it is still a nice, firm, hydrating pate texture without a lot of water.
This food is very well balanced with flaxseed and turkey real meat and my two cats Pecan and his brother Almond recommend this to other pets. It’s a big hit!
I started buying this food a couple years ago and it was of good quality and less expensive than other premium brands- as a store brand SHOULD be!! Suddenly it changed, became watery, mushy, pasty and obviously of lesser quality since none of my huge taste testing panel would even touch it. And, the price has almost doubled in the past 1-2 years! Chewy you've gotten incredibly greedy and I miss the good old days when you were privately owned and not just into profit.
I've been a longtime buyer of this product; however, over the last 3 shipments the formula has changed. It's no longer pate - it looks like sludge, smells horrible, and my cats won't eat it. In fact, it's made them ill. Not sure why you changed it, but it wasn't the best decision. I will no longer be buying this product.
I'm switching foods. This food is not the same. It's suddenly full of visible bone fragments. I feed my cats each a half-can a day, and that used to be fine. Now suddenly they're starving all the time, which makes me think they've either decreased the protein or increased carbs. Very unhappy about this.
Not ONE would eat it!! So disappointed!!
I've been buying this formula for several months and the case I got last month is a completely different, well I would say food, but I'm not sure what it is. It doesn't smell like meat, it has a weird chemical smell. Its a pale bone color. I will not be buying this again. Now I have to find a different grain free wet food for my senior cat...*sigh*...
