are ALL the ingredients in The American Journey Pet Foods sourced in the USA? Or... are there ingredients that are imported from China?
Answer by • Oct 08, 2021
American Journey sources from reputable suppliers in the US and worldwide, dependent upon availability. For example, the chicken, beef, and turkey proteins are sourced from the USA, the lamb comes from New Zealand and Australia and the salmon is sourced from the Americas. Select vitamins and minerals may be sourced from China, dependent on global availability. All ingredients go through a robust supplier approval program and have been evaluated and documented for strict food safety and quality parameters.
What is the difference between the large breed puppy and regular puppy American Journey food?
Answer by • Jan 31, 2021
The American Journey Large Breed Puppy recipe has a higher fiber content and a higher calories per cup. The American Journey Active Life Puppy recipe has Turkey Meal which the large breed food does not.
Does this meet AAFCO standards? I don't see the statement nor is it mentioned.
Answer by • Jun 19, 2021
This food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO dog food nutrient profiles for growth and reproduction including growth for large size dogs that are 70 pounds and more as an adult.
The suggested feeding amounts, is that the current weight of the puppy or the expected weight of the puppy when its full grown?
Answer by • May 27, 2021
The feeding chart may be located by clicking the “Size” tab, on the product page. It bases feeding on current pet weight and age. This feeding chart is a general recommendation. It can be adjusted for your specific pet when also taking into account their age, activity level, etc. If you are uncertain of the amount, you can always consult with your veterinarian.

Weaning my GSD puppies on this.
After much research I decided to start my litter of GSD pups on this. Ingredients are good quality, size of kibble is what I consider to be small, soaks up liquids well, and the pups are loving it. I had to completely wean them early and they took to it right away. The only reason I give this a 4 is because they all have loose stools. Not sure if it is the food or internal issue. They have been wormed. All are alert and healthy at 5 weeks.

Not great.
I did not see “large breed” in the small print on the bag itself in the picture, and it was not in the description that I read of the food itself, so my 11 pound, 6 month old puppy is having trouble eating it. She likes it better than the other high end brands we have tried, but unfortunately it’s hard for her to eat it.

Boring and just adequate
After feeding my 75 lb Lab Hills and Blue Buffalo, I was looking for something to save some money. He's not picky. He ate it fine but that's a boring, bland-smelling kibble. It's very dry. If I was a dog, it wouldn't appeal to me. He seems much happier since I bailed on this food after a week and bought him something better. If you're happy with just okay but still a bit overpriced, this is for you. If you're the kind who spoils your dogs and loves to see them happy, skip this and find something better and tastier.

dogs didn’t like
My dogs don’t like this food. They ate it at first but won’t go near it now. They turn their noses up and walk away. Love the brand but they just won’t eat this kind.

Rug's food
My Dog likes it. His is (now) a 6 mo old Great Dane, so he needs large breed puppy food. I mix this one with the salmon version. makes a great combo for a active growing puppy.

Excellent Large Breed Puppy!
After thorough research, I pulled the trigger on this brand in the spring as my dogs came down with runny stools like many other thousands of PPP users. This food has been an excellent swap to and is now the brand of my kennel/litters! (Euro Dobermans)!
