My best friend, a six-year-old rescue of about 50 healthy pounds, really enjoys the grain-free stews in our latest variety shipment. He came to us at under thirty pounds and has never been a fussy eater, but the relish with which he gobbles down these American Journey stews leaves no room for doubt about their appeal.
The cans are often less than full. Sometimes they are dryer with little or no gravy, other times they have a lot of gravy with less meat. I don't feel like I am giving my dogs a full meal with this product.
When first purchased this food about 8 months ago, my dog liked it's meaty consistency, was sort of like ground beef. Then suddenly one month, it was a soupy mess in a can. This last time it was pasty, thick but all fell out of can in one gloopy blob. My dog isn't as excited about it and I don't think I can keep feeding it to her.
My wife and I have 2 picky pups, so, we bought the combo to see if either was a hit or miss. We typically buy enough to last for a few weeks to let the food settle in with our pups, and that was no problem. Our guys ate this stuff pretty easily, but the ramifications completely ruin this food for everyone. The gas is intense. Both of em'. We can't let em' in our bed. I'm not trying to be funny. It's bad. You may have luck with this stuff, like I said, our picky eaters ate it. Hopefully, if you do buy this stuff you don't get the gas. I really hate to be negative about A. Journey because it's manufactured by Chewy and these folks are fantastic, but this is a miss.
I have been buying this brand for 2yrs now, my dogs love it and never had an issue til my last two recent purchases. When I get the first case I thought the cans not being full was a one off, but after getting the second case I realize they’re not filling up the cans any more. Considering how I much for each case, I may be forced to change brands if this is a permanent change. The cans always came full to the top and now it seems they just added a little more gravy, and less meat which defeats the purpose of of choosing this brand in the first place.
I generally cook dinner for my dogs, but on those occasions when I can't , this is a wonderful substitute. this stew is chock full of meat with a yummy gravy and carrots and other minced veggies, and my Shepherd love it!
We recently opened a can and it was half full and had a foul smell. It's pretty expensive food, so it was disappointing. We should have taken a picture, but didn't think about it. I don't know if we will buy this brand again.
My fur-babies loved their new addition to their meals. No complaints so far. Will continue to have it on autoship.
This item was substituted for Blue Buffalo. My dogs loved it. I will order it again.
sorry to say, my dog did not eat the food. i will continue to find his favorite food.
