I originally got this to improve the coat of my older (2 year old) dog, however my puppy (12 weeks) has shown no interest in his food. The only way I've been able to get him to eat has been hand feeding about 1/4th a cup at a time, but he hasn't been putting on the weight he needs to. I researched a little into fish oil (mainly because on the bottle it says for adult dogs, not puppies) and the general consensus was that it was okay for puppies, so I mixed some into his supper. He ate a full 3/4 cup! No needling or hand feeding, this has been a literal life saver. Love the squeeze function, no spills or drops. Will definitely buy again.

  • OUSTANDING!!!!

after 2 weeks of using this product, I see a definite positive difference in my hairless Chinese Crested's skin. I have one hairless boy who has some food allergies and very sensitive skin. we have the food issues under control but his skin was still not up to par - very dry in patches. Even though his top quality food had 20% high quality sourced fat and we were using coconut oil on his skin, apparently he needed that extra nutritional boot. Just 1 tsp. a day and his skin has almost completely cleared and he seems to be so much more comfortable - he's more energetic, less clingy, tossing toys around. • The Terrible 2s - Now Slightly Less Terrible!

    By on

5 months old is proving to be the terrible twos for my puppy. She's refusing her raw food (which she normally inhales), her kibble (which she normally loses her mind over as it's her 'junk food'), and just about ANYTHING that isn't tiny pieces of cheese during training. Yesterday, after yet another meal consisting of her eating 3 bites and walking away I received my Chewy box. Opening the container of salmon oil, putting a tiny dot on my finger, and offering it to my puppy got her licking my finger for as long as I would hold it there. Cool, so she likes salmon oil. What if... You guessed it, I squirted some on top of her still-full bowl of food and mixed it up. Well, guess who then 5 months old is proving to be the terrible twos for my puppy. I guess I know how I'm getting my picky brat to eat during her terrible 2s - all while making her coat even more beautiful! Thanks, Chewy. … more

  • My picky eater pup likes it!

    By on

I was worried if my dog would like this because he is a picky eater. I got the American Journey Salmon Oil and mixed the recommended amount into my dog's American Journey Grain-Free Dry Dog Food . He ate about 4 pieces of kibble and then turned his nose up and walked away. I was bummed, not only did my pup not like the Salmon Oil but I had to throw his dinner in the trash. But wait! I decided to give it another try but rather than put it in his food, I thought maybe if I mix it with his daily treat of pumpkin he'd like that. I put his pumpkin in his dish, mixed the Salmon oil in and watched my dog eat about half of it before again, turning his nose up and walking away! Drat! Last resort time. Hmmmm...maybe he'll like it just on its own. I poured his 3 teaspoon dose into a little cup and held it down at his level to lap it up and sure enough he gulped it down! Was it a fluke? I'd have to wait until the next day to find out. I did the same thing the next day, just giving it to him on its own and he lapped it up again! We're on day three now and he still likes it on its own mixed with nothing (he's like one of those kids who doesn't want any of his food touching other food). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he continues to like it. I'll keep you posted! … more

  • Basset Hound Approved!

I began looking for a fish oil supplement for my 5 dogs after noticing that their skin was dry. Reading about the additional health benefits that salmon oil provides, as well as the great reviews for American Journey, i decided to give it a try. All 5 of my dogs LOVE the taste of the oil. The bottle makes it easy to add the oil to their food, it doesn't leak, and it doesn't have a strong smell. I'll definitely be buying it again, especially since my dogs think they're getting a treat each time it's added to their food!

  • Itch, Please

I purchased this product upon recommendation from our Vet. She advised that supplementing salmon/fish oil into our dog's diet could help with his dry skin. She said that we could purchase fish oil capsules and cut them to put the oil in our dog's food. I figured there HAD to be an easier way. Lo and behold, I find THIS product. The squeeze bottle makes this product SOOOO easy to use, and my dog loves the flavor. Plus, he has stopped scratching!! I do advise storing the bottle upside down (cap-side up) to avoid having the oil leak through the lid.

  • Great for all my Critters!!

    By on

Was happy to see this product available, the purity of Alaskan Salmon oil & no added junk!! It says "for dogs only" on the bottle, but have 2 Cats 11 & 7, & I know this is very beneficial for them as well, so I just give them 1/4-1/2 tsp in food & for my Pibble mix, her skin was a little dry lately & already seems to be helping! Let alone all of the internal benefits. For all of them! I appreciate the 50% off for 1st time buyer, makes it SO much easier to give it a try! It appears as tho the squeeze bottle comes out in 1Tablespoon squirts, which is handy! Everyone should be giving this to their dogs & Cats!! Seems very high quality! Thanks!

  • Good Product, Bad Packaging

    By on

A little goes a long ways. The salmon oil is fine, good quality, however it is difficult to get a small amount of the salmon oil out of the bottle when squeezing it to put into my cat's food. In order to not get too much of the salmon oil in my cat's food I have had to pour a small amount into a teaspoon and then drizzle or drop small amounts into my cat's wet food.

  • Great product

    By on

My dogs really like the flavor of this healthy supplement.I add about a teaspoon on top of my picky dogs dog food and they eat it right away. I no longer have to stand over one of my dogs to make sure she eats her food and not my other overweight dog. The only thing I would change is the dispenser I would like to be able to dispense a smaller amount

  • Use to make a dog gain weight

    By on

I recently started caring for a dog that was under target weight. The salmon oil is pretty much pure fat and mixing a few tablespoons in the food adds a few hundred calories. It also makes any dog food taste delicious so a picky eater will love. Just use sparingly or lessen the caloric content of the kibble to compensate, or your dog may quickly gain some weight too
